What To Do With All Those Free Fabric Swatches You See on Here
Money Saving
I often wonder what you all do with those free fabric swatches you see listed on here. Here’s a great idea and ideal to pass the time during lockdown http://www.taylormadecreatesblog.com/2012/06/mini-fabric-lamps.html
Personally I don't apply for them but I can think of many ways to use them if I were adept with a needle. Quilting and cushion covers.
When I raised a topic about this a while back I was stunned that the response was so lukewarm. Considering there are so many samples shared and a load of takers, I assumed there would be a sharing of ideas. Not so. Perhaps members just don't want to share their tips.
I'm a crafter but don't go for them as it's not the type of craft I do but I bet they're super useful for those that sew and make dolls perhaps
I build mine up until I have a bag full then I give mine to my aunt, she is very into arts and crafts and doesn't get out much due to her disability so this is something she enjoys doing.
I've applied for a few of those samples to use for crafting, they come in handy for various things.
I've applied for a few and have been making 'hearts' for the Covid ward. Some samples are very small, one batch was only 1 inch square. Next do send very good samples.
I've got a few last one was to patch up sofa but I've used them in sowing fun things for kids
Nice project, dawarwick. In the past I've used them for applique, patchwork, bunting and repairs but on the whole I found they were often too small to be very useful. I am trying at the moment not to stash any more fabric or wool but work through what I've got. Those lamps are a great idea.
I saw something on tv the other night that was a great idea for using these. Wrapping gifts. Wrap with cloth, tie with a ribbon and a super looking pressie and the cloth can be used over and over saving loads of trees!
