So, even if I buy a food item for 10p I hate to waste it. I thought we could share ways of using bargains to make delicious meals.
Last night, we had an unexpected visitor. I had a 10p tub of Asda Madagascan Vanilla Custard so I poured it over some sliced and buttered hot cross buns that were going a bit dry. Added a sprinkle of spice and baked it for 20 mins. It was delicious. Sorry, forgot to take a pic and none left today!
This is such a good idea. Hot cross buns are always reduced-to-clear in my local Sainsbury's. 20p, sometimes less. And I usually pass up on the offer because I don't think I'll eat them all before they go stale. But this is a nifty way to make them nice again. I'm guessing you could do slice some cooking apples on top as well. Make a kind of apple pie but on the buns
Tom exactly, those bananas that they sell at 10p a kilo too. The hot cross buns were some I made with old yeast and they were a bit solid! You can freeze hot cross buns of course.
