Freebie Hoarding - A Friendly Rant

Ask a Question

I love a freebie as much as the next person and it’s always nice if there’s the option to get more than one of it.

However, it genuinely baffles me when people go out of their way to order 5 or 6 of the same thing - especially when they know that the stock is of a very limited quantity.

I hope I don’t come across as a sore loser or jealous (well, I am being jealous a bit) but I find it really greedy when people do that. Would it really hurt to leave some for the rest of us?

What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree or disagree and why.

I totally agree, can't stand greed or selfishness. Those who order many probably don't even use them all.

I think the companies involved should at least have a system where an address already used should flash up and not allow a second freebie.

That would be a godsend. I also think people are a bit addicted to getting freebies. I know I was a bit this year but I took a step back and realised that it should never be that serious.

You aren't being a sore loser at all. Having more than you need whilst increasing the risk of others going without is indeed very selfish. There should be an equal opportunity for all.

I try to stick the the rule - if its something I would actually go out and pay for then I will apply for the freebie - otherwise I dont bother. Never been one to apply just for the sake of it just because its free. Although I do know that some people will then give away items to friends or food banks / charity's etc so I don't have a problem other people ordering stuff they dont need themselves.

Yeah I definitely have no problem with people giving away their freebies. However, it’s a bit weird to get loads of something for free just to give it away to charity. What’s the point because I’m the end, you’ve just robbed Peter to pay Paul.

Surely it would mean much more if they actually sacrificed their money and bought it.

flipside not really, if it is a company that gives away freebies, rather than a charity.

I love the little perfume freebies, so useful to carry in my handbag. I haven’t stocked up on freebies just general shopping when it’s on offer.

It is nice to get something free but it’s only worth it if you are actually going to use it. And it only seems fair to order one.

I only apply for one of something and only if I or a family or friend will actually use it. Its just greed otherwise and there could be someone out there who that freebie would genuinely help.
