I was literally reading this about an hour ago TC , he served just 8 years of 16 in an open prison, the judicial system is so soft , these people need chemical castration to stop them reoffending , some do it in other countries , more in the US

There is no question about his guilt from what I understand from memory so he is high risk out in society so seems very dangerous to release. Huge financial pressure in the system to release prisoners though because of lack of resources and prison spaces. The government is completely dishonest about the poor financial health of this country but this is false economy as even if you put aside the horrible crimes against girls that could happen. You also have the huge amount of resources to investigate and prosecute him again. We need to think about using prisoners as a resource i.e. slave labour, chain gang etc. Working out in the fields in order to pay for them to have decent food and some evening entertainment. Those who refuse simply have no entertainment and very basic food. Personally I think if someone is sentenced to 16 years that should be the sentence with good behaviour and if they create problems then their sentence could be extended or reset.

I don't think we have tough enough sentences for paedophiles and rapists in the UK. The prison system may be overstretched and under financed but allowing dangerous Prisoners out offers no protection to the public. Prisoners should be made to work to help pay for their upkeep, the entire burden should not be on taxpayers.

I don't think any paedophile should be released from jail unless they've been fitted for a body bag, will he offend again, I wouldn't be surprised if he does, as these depraved people never change.

Not to sound nasty but didn't even know he was still alive never mind out of jail. Personally I think he should be back in and stay there for the rest of his life.

This sort of scum needs the death penalty but we are too soft in this country. He's a danger to society.

I agree we need tougher laws for criminals who commit crimes of violence or of a sexual nature. However, I have always felt that there should be an adult education system in our prisons. Instead of automatically halving sentences for good behaviour they should get time off their sentences for acquiring O and A levels, degrees or even Masters. If the higher accomplishments are beyond their abilities they should be given the option of working off their time as some posters have suggested.

I personally feel that clearing/cleaning Britain's canals could result in a more economic transport system which would help counteract road congestion.

I really don't understand why the system is the way it is, if someone is given a 16 year sentence, that's what they should serve, not get out early, a very sad state of affairs.
