Gin and Tonic Flavour - After Eight Mints Will Hit Shelves from September

Other

A limited edition of After Eights will be released on 7th of September and will be lasting up until Christmas (so not really very long sadly). Will you be giving these a go? I certainly will! Not going to last very long in my house. πŸ˜‹

I think I'll pass, but then I'm a traditionalist when it comes to after dinner chocs.

Poundland do some great after dinner mints. Not quite as good as After Eight, but still very nice nevertheless. πŸ˜‹

Good evening regularcomper90 yes I will be buying if I can. Get a box to try then if I like them get more for Christmas. Gin and tonic is one of my fav drinks so I should enjoy these. Let's hope we can get them and another thing I hate is that they are only out for a few weeks. Just when you like some thing they stop. Wish they would stop doing it Image

Hello Nicola.

It is certainly very frustrating when a product that you really like suddenly gets discontinued. 3 of my favourite pizzas were discontinued throughout my lifetime, and more recently my favourite flavour pot noodle.

Gone but not forgotten. πŸ˜”

After Eight are a bit old-hat these days. I think there are better chocs out there these days. Personally I favour Lindor or Hotel Chocolat as an indulgence. Xx

Ceebers Old hat?! How very dare you! πŸ˜†

I remember my parents buying them every Christmas in the 70s and we weren't allowed to have one until after 8pm.

You could be right, but as with many things Christmas related it's become a bit of a staple.

TheChimp You traditionalist! Yes my parents did the same. It was a rare treat if you could troff a choc and put back the choc envelope in the box to fox an unwitting family member. OK... I led a sheltered life in the countryside as a child. Xx

Oh, I love Lindor chocolates. Very moreish so a lot of self discipline is needed here. I am quite partial to Thorntons too. πŸ˜‹

If I were a drinker I would be all over them like a rash. However I do know a gin drinker who has a birthday in September so would be a nice little token gift.

Not sure I even want to try a G&T chocolate much prefer drinking one. I can appreciate companies bringing in new tastes to expand their products. I don’t like chocolate liqueurs.

Pjran Ooo! I do!

Chocolate liqueurs are lovely, especially if you put them in the fridge first.

Cointreau ones are defo the best πŸ˜‹

TheChimp 🀣 Nope. I disagree your Honour! All kinds of wrong. I bet you are the kind of person who went all in for the brandy barrels!

My Cointreau is either straight up or with ice. No choc needs to be involved in my humble opinion...

Ceebers Oh, I don't know πŸ€”

I use Cointreau in a B52 cocktail.

Have you tried one? You should if you haven't because they are yummy πŸ˜‹

TheChimp I had to look up B52 DescriptionThe B-52 cocktail is a layered shot composed of a coffee liqueur, an Irish cream, and a Grand Marnier. When prepared properly, the ingredients separate into three distinctly visible layers.

I’m happy with a glass of Sauvignon blanc or bubbly. It doesn’t have to be champagne.

I can't say I would like these - I'd much prefer the real McCoy...... in a glass! I have to admit I am ever so slightly in love with Lindor Salted Caramel chocs - Ceebers you have to try them. (too rich to binge on but oooooh! one a day πŸ˜‹)

Great advice and I feel it is now my moral duty to buy some and report back... just for feedback reasons of course. Xx

I am not normally one for resurrecting old threads, but I don't really see much point in starting a new one. I just like to say that I have bought some of those gin and tonic After Eights and tried them for the first time. Honestly, they are no where near as good as I expected and I most likely won't be bothering with these again. You can hardly taste any gin, if none at all. These are more like the standard After Eights, just with a weaker peppermint flavour. Another gimmick in my opinion.

I wasn't aware of this until reading this thread, but I think I will give them ago as well as getting them to go with the Bottle of Gin I have got for my sister for Christmas
