Did You Go to the Seaside Today?
Ask a Question
Where I live, it's about a 2 hour drive to the nearest coast and normally in the Summer that means being stuck in traffic, the hassle of parking, so it's not worth the effort. That's without taking into account Covid and trying to keep a social distance.
So why am I not surprised to see this headline
People flock to beaches as UK set for hottest day of the year

I feel that I am turning into a grumpy old women, I know people are just trying to get back to normal. But all I can think about is that this dreadful disease hasn't gone away.
Ive just seen the oictures of the packed beaches and personally i think its ridiculous! I wouldn't dream of going to the beach anytime soon, i agree with you, this virus is far from gone!
I'm glad it's not just me, I find myself getting really at people's lack of concern for their and others safety & I am normally a live and let live person
I stayed at home and enjoyed the sun sitting in my garden, definitely think that it’s to early to go and sit on a crowded beach but I do think it will be a while before this virus is gone
beccatavender I spent the day in the garden. Could not be bothered with the beach crowds. Everyone is much too close to each other for my liking.
I think today was the first day it seemed warm enough to sit out hopefully Summer is on the way @BlueEyesX
I travelled but not to the beach and it seemed busy on motorway nr Blackpool so glad I didn't stop even though I sat in traffic
My family and I have ventured to coast, luckily it’s to stay with my parents whom are a ten minute walk from the beach. Traffic was very slow moving but as we come off the side roads it was empty to drive through.
There is North and South shore here and all tourists go to south shore but didn’t drive or walk to there to see the busyness.
My parents live North shore side and beach isn’t busy, plenty of space.
It’s been great to see family that not seen for a while due to restrictions, and staying the night is much better too!
I think the last year has reminded us all of how important family and friends are. It's great that you got to see family and spend time with each other
I have spent my days in the garden. I never go to a crowded during normal times so definitely won’t be going. I do know a very stoney beach, with free parking, very quiet which I may visit soon as I have not been out since first March 2020.
Went out for Brunch yesterday , very quiet where we went was surprised , and then spent the day in the garden , but not surprised people are heading to the beaches, been a very difficult 18 months and people just want a break and to get back to normality
Two hours. I am lucky I am just near the beach.
I expect it’s packed down there today and it will be on the news and in the press as usual.
I really envy people who live by the sea, I grow up near the sea and it's something I really miss, surprisingly not in Summer but when there's hardly anyone around on a crisp autumn day
beccatavender we finally moved to our dream .... by the sea ..... still renting and it's a bit of a struggle but we really do appreciate it. I so envy the families here who have grown up here, can live and work here, and whose forebears lived here too tho it won't have been easy, I know.... but then neither was the city life we had... but in different ways.
I think you don't appreciate what you have, I know I think about the sea more than I did when I was closer to it BORDERJOE
beccatavender when I was a kid I was always down there.
It’s even great to go down in the winter. Obviously not to swim. Great relaxing walks etc.
I hate sitting down the beach to sunbath I don’t see the point never have. I love being in that water or just do something. Sitting still isn’t my thing.
I find the sound of the waves, really soothing and it's a good place to think. I'm not into Sun bathing but a walk definitely clears your mind rossruby1977
