Great Second-Hand Bargains
Ask a Question
I’ve managed to buy some great bargains in charity shops over the years, but I don’t think I’ve ever gotten something that looks that good for that cheap
and when it’s that cheap, do you proudly let others know how much you paid for it? Or do you keep that a secret?
Oh I'm very vocal if I get a bargain, I'm much prouder if I've got something for a good price than if I've overpaid. I've won a few things on eBay for a good price. When my daughter was little and loved playing with dolls I wanted to buy some clothes for her dolls but dolls clothes are so expensive so I bid on a job lot of baby clothes and won a huge box with literally over a hundred items for £20. I've had a few decent books for around 10-50p from charity shops too
Lol I’m the same. I’m more excited by a bargain, something I’ve gotten a discount on, rather than something that is expensive
hspexy I'm a bit obsessed with bargains. I started my Xmas shopping in July as I took advantage of deals and discounts as ans when they came up
hspexy same. I think we're addicts... There's a certain thrill of getting a bargain (especially glitches) but it can go the other way if they get cancelled!
I proudly let others know, although at the same time, I like to have stuff that looks expensive and noone would guess it was a bargain i love the shock when i tell them
Me too! It’s the moment where they say ‘I love that ...., where did you get it from?’ I am ready to pounce with my answer
I'd call what I found near the trash "second hand" and while it was "free" it cost me in bringing it home (friggin thing was moderately heavy so I carried it and made several pauses in between). After cleaned up and everything the living room table (similar to the one below) was actually worth it.
Just didn't have the drawers but that doesn't matter.
Years ago I wouldn't go in a charity shop but now I love them! You can get so many great bargains which are still in very good condition, a lot of them are like brand new. At the same time you are helping a good cause and saving money too. I buy of Ebay too and have found some really great bargains on there as well.
Yes it’s crazy how many brand new things you can find in charity shops, although I guess some high streets donate to charity shops also. I always love seeing fab things i don’t expect to find
I get lots of books from the Oxfam bookshop and got some amazing bargains from Facebook marketplace for toys. There are so many wooden train sets on there at a fraction of the cost new and they're really hardwearing.
Ah yes, I find that kids stuff, particularly toys are in abundant supply. It’s great as you don’t need to buy those kind of things brand new. Great way to save money
Love second hand stuff. I have loads of clothes and toys for my son which are second hand and when he is finished with them I donate them to charity. His granny buys him loads of second hand toys, it saves her money and my son is none the wiser. He is currently playing with a pull along spider that his granny got second hand.
I love having a look in them. You can often find new clothes with original price tag attached.
I've never been one for charity shops. I've donated stuff but never bought, that I can remember. I don't really know how to do bargain hunting in shops, especially charity shops
I just don't know what to look for. I like being able to check prices online to see if they're bargains
I know what you mean. You know exactly where you stand with the prices online. Doing the bartering in person can get very tiring, but the thrill when you get that bargain - it’s very satisfying
hspexy where do you barter? Charity shops? Other shops? Other than market stalls, I've only ever asked for a discount at M&S and they gave me one. But I tend to buy almost everything online these days, excluding weeklu shops.
I got a vase from charity shop and it was very cheap...it is an LSA vase it worth 10 times more than what I paid for it.
