Grocery Bill
Ask a Question
what is your average weekly grocery bill....
Including frequent coffee.
Also for how many people!
(Take aways/deliveroo etc not included)
It varies depending on whether I need to buy cleaning products, laundry products, dog food, have to stock up the freezer etc but it is between £40‐55 for the 3 of us. We don't get takeaways or have coffee.
InaShah I make sure that I utilise my freezer to the max. If I see something that we can use that is Orange stickered I will buy it and freeze it. We also use up left overs for lunch and have very little food waste. We cook from scratch 90% of the time, which helps keep costs down.
Ours works put around £50 per week. But we do a fortnightly 'big' shop (£60/70ish) and then a small top up in between (£20ish)
Then a monthly loo roll and cleaning shop approx £10/15 in home bargains
InaShah I really recommend having frozen veg in your freezer. It's not expensive to buy and means you aren't worried about it going off.
We cook mostly from scratch and reasonably healthy with lots of of veg and it's not thst expensive. Using beans and pulses is another way to be healthy and keep costs down.
To me taste and flavour with herbs and spices is a must!
My husband does the shopping and he said on average it's about £70 per week. He does a large freezer shop and a large grocery shop, but also does a weekly shop for fresh fruit and veg, milk bread etc.
That’s a difficult one to answer because this week I’ve started buying extras for Christmas plus my husband bought me 6 bottles of my favourite wine.
I try to reduce mine,around £90 a week on average,might be less,that's 2 adults,2 kids,2 cats and a big dog that's not including my daughter's lunch x
Hard to say as I buy a lot from Amazon, and stores like heron or Fulton foods. If I have to spend £30 in a store it can be a real challenge. Two adults and three children I estimate about £50 per week.
hmmm mine changes every week depending on whats needed some times its £20 sometimes £30 for lonely ol me
ours is around 100 a week i cook from scratch and there are 7 of us to feed and 8 on a wednesday
Your bill is what it is ! One thing we all must realised is that it has gone up by 10% in the last month and likely to go up another 10% in the next couple of months ! A fact of life .
Golfforall Need to make more frequent trips to Costco and need to switch it up all my grocery to get the best deals....
InaShah On my limited shop -Mushrooms up 10% - Bread up 10% - Frozen Chips up 10% - Butter up 20% . And it seems my Linda Macartney Burgers and Chicago Town Pizzas are rarely on offer for a £1 as they used to be !
InaShah I'm not strapped to be fair , as many folk must be . But as a moneysaver I notice it !
Golfforall I love Linda Burgers and sausages too. As grateful as I am that more people are being veggie.... I miss those days when it was far cheaper to be veggie....
Golfforall I have my iced coffee Jimmy that is my biggest spend. And I have subscribed to it to get it cheaper then the grocery shops... except when there is an offer.
InaShah Must admit ,though I'm not on a budget - I won't pay £2 for stuff that is often on offer for £1 . I'll wait another week and stock up the freezer . I'm not 100% veggie ,but I prefer veggie stuff and love the Minced Steak Vegan Pukka Pies . Bought 10 this week as they were £1 "down " from £2 .
Golfforall Doing that now too..... The benefits of a larger Fridge and Freezer is you can stack up and batch cook properly! I know, I know about the ice coffee.... was more disciplined before but will get back to that!
