Do people still give out sweets to children who knock on Halloween ?
Living in a small village I am lucky and know most of the kids who knock my door on Halloween and I love seeing them in their little outfits.
Where I live some give out sweets, some avoid the door, others leave a tub of sweet outside for people to take one
I enjoyed getting sweets as a child, in the past I have told my children to only go to a house with a pumpkin outside. Some people really dislike it and I would hate the idea that my children bothered old or vulnerable people. Covid had stopped a lot of it where I live.
Howmuch our village generally has a unspoken rule if there’s a lit pumpkin by the door the kids can knock. If the pumpkin isn’t lit it means the treats have run out. No pumpkin means don’t knock. It seems to work pretty well.
Hardly any kids come near our house and we live in a busy area. We only had a handful of kids come for sweets last year.
I absolutely love seeing all the kids dress up I make up about 70 bags and have extra sweets and extra box crisps and they all go I normally decorate outside the full house and the kids love it when it was covid I still done it bit put out a small tent with bags and pumkin with lolly pops put a notice up for kids to take one of each last year was really busy with kids they have had a tough time not being able to do things
kate1310 wow that sounds fab! We're off to our 1st halloween party this year!
We usually stay in and watch a film with the kids. The last 3 years there hasn't been any trick or treaters for us.
PinkElephant26 I use to always have a Halloween party I have Halloween wallpaper and everything I loved it as a kid so I like to do things for them now cheer them all up as I loved going round the doors hope you enjoy your party hope your dressing up lol
Im normally out with the kids trick or treating There aren't huge amounts of kids, out in our area but a few do. The houses will always be decorated or have a pumpkin outside, which I think is great as you don't disturb anyone who doesn't want you too.
I'm on a busy main road and didn't get many trick or treaters last year and I didn't get any the year before. I'll have a few sweet bags ready buy doubt anyone or many kids will come.
All Hallows eve and All Souls for me .It's a holy and a wholesome thing to pray for the dead. The focus is remembering our loved ones and souls past .
Whilst every year we buy sweets to give out at Halloween, for the last few years we haven't had any trick of treaters. I think it's because I live in a caldersact and it's mostly elderly people and I don't think people like to knock on doors of strangers. The last time was a few years ago when we had a family living a few doors down and I agree the little ones are very cute.
We don't get kids knocking on our door at Halloween. I buy some sweets just incase but no one ever comes to the door, which I'm thankful for as the door bell constantly going upsets the dog.
I am hosting a childrens party at my daughters pub so a lot of the prizes will be small sweets, we are also offering childrens meals.
I do! We actually buy bulk of halloween toys to hand out with the sweets and buy in toddler snacks for the littles first halloweens etc to include them if come to our door xx
