Hello Moderators, Can You Unlock My Topic I Posted Last Night, Please
Ask a Question
I don't know who are the moderators by name off the top of my head, but could one take a look at why a topic I started last night about my new garden was moderated and not allowed. I didn't say anything last night as I thought I would wait to see if it turned up over night here. I promise I didn't mention hair metal in it. I don't know if there is another way to connect mods. I did have a quick look under FAQ last night. Thank you.
Hi again ShellyAnn I had this happen recently when I posted a topic that seemed to go down well. No offence caused, no rude comments, no shirty replies but it just suddenly disappeared. I did as they often ask and used the contact form and got a standard reply saying it would be looked into. I didn't hear anything more. I am guessing a human being must have read it to make the decision so would like to have had just one sentence telling me why it was deleted to avoid a further error. I was left feeling embarrassed and puzzled but just shrugged my shoulders. I believe kikogpe and Ceebers are two moderators who might be willing to look into your query.
I've had it happen before and I did seem to remember there was a contact form but I couldn't see where and I have so little time here at the moment. I haven't been here now for 2 days. So I don't know if it was unlocked or not. I don't have enough hours in the day. I've got to go outside at some point today and start washing down the plastic tables in the greenhouse ready for planting and start getting the raised beds ready as well. It will be very hit and miss when I'm here at latest deals.
I find that some of my posts suddenly disappear and get put into moderation to be checked, immediately after I post them. Usually it appears to be because my post contains a word or phrase that is on the ’Suspect words’ list. Suspect words are picked up by auto-moderation software, preventing a post from going live until it's been checked by human eye.
Actually it works really well and helps keep the content on the LD website clean and family-friendly. Using the name of these birds in a gardening post would be an example of a 'suspect' word (thanks davidstockport)
Once my suspect post has been reviewed and approved by a moderator normally it'll go live. Sometimes it'll take a while. I imagine they get loads of suspect post reports to check every day and it's just one task of many.
Sometimes when you work out what the word or phrase was that the auto-moderation software didn't like it's hilarious. I've found it can sometimes be a word similar to a 'Suspect' word, with just one letter being different. The list of Suspect words must be absolutely massive.
Yes, it was probably those birds in the photo that caused it to get blocked. I was so pleased to see those birds again as I haven't seen any since the 1990s!. They used to nest in Grandma's mail box every year. Grandma used to live down the road from where I am now. I have seen so many of those particular birds since I moved here. There's lot of mistletoe growing I've noticed and yesterday I discovered that the old cattle feeder, mill stone etc from the farm that was still here when I was kid. These were in a lane (We used to go down that lane to go see (wind up) the farmer's geese). When the farm land was built on, these were left.
Morning ShellyAnn
Sorry about this it looks like it was automatically picked up by the filters. The post is now live.
If you have any issues such as this in the future please do use the contact form rather than the chat section as we may miss things here and always want to try and resolve any problems!
Thanks Kelsey but where is the contact form LOL! I knew there was some form, but I can't find it. I know it is going to be really obvious and right in front of me, but I can't see one I was so excited about seeing a squirrel and some blue chested birds that I didn't think of software picking up trigger words.
