Hermes Lost Parcel - Advice Please.
Ask a Question
Bit of a long shot I know, but has anybody on here sent a parcel through Hermes that has not been delivered? I am wondering how easy it is trying to get compensation?
A little background-
I got one of those dreaded eBay messages from a buyer this morning telling me he had not received the parcel he had purchased 9 days ago.
If it were a couple of quid I'd just put it down to bad luck and write it off. However, we are talking £130 worth of Lego, which as you can imagine I'm not happy at the thought of losing.
I will probably end up refunding the buyer later tonight or tomorrow, luckily I paid a bit extra when I purchased the postage so I am covered for the full amount. But I am hoping somebody on here has had a positive experience in trying to claim from Hermes and that it's painless and prompt.
I had similar with my hermes where they left parcel behind someone's bin. Take it up with ebay too so your covered maybe this buyer has the lego but because no sign in needed at moment maybe my hermes forgot. Your covered both sides then with proof you sent don't refund until eBay gives go ahead.
blacklabrador your welcome alot of this goes on with ebay always have tracking numbers proof posting etc
If you paid extra to be converted for the full amount them I’m sure you have a tracking number. What does it say when you track your parcel? Does it state that was delivered or still on the way? In current situation 9 days it’s not that long for delayed parcel. I’m not sure if you totally responsible to refund the buyer just yet. If I was you I would contact eBay and Hermes first to see where you stand. Best of luck
The tracking only goes to the day after I sent the parcel, it says "arrived at senders local depot" since then there is no tracking. And since i spoke to the Hermes chatbot the tracking number is no longer being recognised. I'm glad I got screen grabs while it was still active.
This doesn’t seem to me that they’ve tried to deliver the item just yet blacklabrador! I would try to give them a call instead, the chatbot is totally useless in my opinion, I never got anywhere with that.
mso Thank you, yes I think a call is the way forward, see what they have to say.
Best of luck blacklabrador and let us know how this ends. And most importantly don’t refund the buyer just yet, give yourself the time to sort this out.
No I've asked the buyer and absolutely no sign of it.
I am fairly confident it has been lost as the tracking stops 9 days ago.
I have contacted Hermes and they say they will get back to you within 24 hours, surprise surprise that time frame has been and gone and not heard a peep.
Just going to echo mso Don't refund the buyer yet. Speak to Ebay & Hermes. As long as you have tracking (which you do) it's not unknown for ebay to refund the buyer where parcels dont arrive. Different if theres no tracking but you should be covered, as you do.
If it's not tracked to the buyer's address, tell Hermes and they will refund you. I found them easy to deal with when an item was damaged. Explain the situation to your buyer and advise them to speak with eBay if they do not accept your response. The Lego is probably on its way to a physical auction. That's where 'lost' Hermes parcels end up.
Hermes lost a parcel that was meant to be delivered to me, thankfully the seller decided to refund me straight away (it was only £6.50 though it kinda sucks they lost it). The only thing a person could do in this instance is fill out the missing parcel application or whatever's called.
Honestly, I wish people didn't use Hermes (it's cheap for a reason). Rats eating through boxes, parcels going missing... I don't trust them even to deliver an item worth £1.
Also, I've got a package coming later this week and guess who's handling, yep, Hermes. Sure hope it doesn't arrive damaged or goes missing somehow too.
Lastly, I know Royal Mail is pricier than Hermes, but I haven't had any issues with them (I always send it Tracked or Signed For to be aware it was delivered).
I've started to realise now that the cheaper delivery firms are not worth the hassle.
I try and avoid using Hermes or DPD nowadays.
DPD seems decent. I've bought from Nintendo whom use them for deliveries and they're pretty good, speed and quality-wise.
If Hermes went bust I'd feel bad for the employees, but part of the blame is on the employees also.
This one is even worse:
There's NO reason they should ever do this. They ever heard of reschedule/redelivery?
You know, about 5 ~ 7 years ago I worked at UPS to organize parcels and I thought they were among the best, probably are, but the way they handled parcels was unreal. Broken bottles of wine, a TV box partially opened... I felt bad for the wine customer even though it wasn't my fault.
God knows how Hermes operate.
blacklabrador Started reading this and about to ask why your screen shot said May/June when I realised thread was a year old. Did you get the original non-delivery sorted?
lilyflower Eventually yes it was sorted.
The parcel went missing in transit for well over a week, I started a claim against Hermes and miracle of miracles they found it the next day.
Luckily the buyer was very understanding and happy to wait.
lol i literally just saw an article on hermes not refunding lost parcels it seems this is a common issue with them but i personally haven't used them before.
I have a parcel that should be delivered either tomorrow or this upcoming week, but still says "Dropped Off"
Hopefully it's just a case of Hermes being lazy updating tracking info and actually delivers it. Really hope it arrives because even though it only cost me £18 I'd pay £50-80 for it.
When did Amazon start using Hermes? I ordered a kindle over the black friday weekend. It was sent out via Hermes...I missed the delivery & its since gone missing...I contacted Amazon yesterday & have had a replacement arrive today ( via DPD).
For some time, I think.
It always worries me when a retailer or an individual uses Hermes as there's a possibility for it to go missing than any other courier.
An order I'm waiting to arrive continues untracked, but hopefully it gets here next week. :-/
PhilipMarc I usually just use a pick up locker when I order from Amazon but this time it didn't give me the option. I was assuming Amazon would deliver it themselves & leave in my safe place. I had no idea they used Hermes. Thankfully Amazon customer service is top notch & I got a replacement with no issues.
I used Hermes alot for work etc for yonks & I never had any issues with them until this year. There customer service is none existent.
I purchased something 2 months ago and the courier was Hermes. I have still not had the parcel. The real pain is you cannot call Hermes, only go through their online chat. I give them all the details and they give me an update from a month ago. Then you cannot ask them anything else. Luckily I got a replacement from the place where I bought the item. Will never use Hermes fir anything
Two private sellers I bought from used Hermes, one of the packages got lost and he refunded me. Now, the second seller dropped it off on December 2, but there's been no update.
Hasn't even been updated to "picked up by Hermes" or whatever, nothing. I hope it arrives tomorrow or the day after because after that, I don't expect it to show up.
Just because it's cheap it doesn't mean people should use it. They need to go out of business.
I've used Hermes a few times when sending parcels and have never had any issues with them, I've also had many parcels delivered by Hermes, again never having any issues, I guess I've been lucky when sending parcels but receiving them is down to a trustworthy couple delivering to my area for the past few years.
I ordered an item from ebay and the seller used Hermes and on this rare occasion the tracking has got ridiculous, its all over the place. On the day it was dropped off they claimed it was out for delivery but further entries show it being moved to another area and then there is all sorts of random entries that seem out of sequence. I never got it and its been refunded but tracking keeps getting new entries in it. It's very frustrating for both buyer and seller. I'm annoyed I didn't get the item as a good price but I can't really blame the seller except for using Hermes which I use myself. Most of my Hermes delivered goods I get without issue but some are left in stupid places and it feels like they have a very high workload and often use their own vehicles. In the past I've had parcels delivered by normal cars not sure if that is still happening. It feels like a service that is very cheap.
