Hoarder or Minimalist?

i just saw a post on facebook of someone’s “stockpile of bargains” and there was a LOT... the inner hoarder in me says “that’s a great idea, all stuff they will use eventually, all neatly organised, all bargains, I should do that“ but my minimalist self goes “that’s a lot of stuff, where would I keep it, surely the products expire, what about if you move house, you have to take all that with you“... I like to regularly have clear outs and take clothes and stuff I don’t use to the charity shop, for lent I got rid of 40 items in my house (an item a day) and I’ve currently got a list of beauty products I’m using up to downsize my collection... so I feel like I’m 50/50, i’m a hoarder at heart and a wannabe minimalist in reality

I definitely fall into the hoarder category! I love my stash and if it doesn't have an expiration date you can pretty much guarantee I have a few of it! I do wish I was more organised though.
Even when things don’t have an expiry date though, i recently had this hand cream that had never been opened but sat in a drawer for a year and it smelt completely off.. so that puts me off buying beauty products and keeping a stash of them... cleaning products I can see the appeal though, I just never find them as a bargain 
Definitely a hoarder, but at least an organised one as I know where everything is stored, so I can retrieve it when needed. I’ve found the only way I’d part with my stash is if I can sell it - so even though I stockpile my bargains, I sometimes put up the things I’m not likely to use for sale and get rid of them (slowly) that way. It hurts parting with my things a little less if I get money for it
I guess it is not too bad if you are used to doing car boots, as you could always get rid of excess items that way as well. Plus car boots can be fun to do
Hoarder, and while I never want to be a minimalist, I think I could probably learn from them, just to tone hoarding down a bit! I'm already getting better at resisting deals (even free ones) that I don't need, but still have a way to go!
I am definitely a hoarder although I am good at having a yearly clear out by selling or charity shops. I do work with a chap who lives in an entirely white house inside and has rules such as only ever having six books in his dwelling. If he finds a new one another has to go.
Wow... each to their own! I like my house to be tidy and organised and I don’t like clutter lying around (my partner doesn’t understand this and leaves stuff everywhere and wont part with anything) but I definitely understand a hoarders mentality, i used to always worry when I get rid of something, the next week I will need it and regret getting rid of it
I am more likely to hoard than throw things away. My collection of old newspapers is an example - I can always find good use for them.
If you keep newspapers for 30+ years you can sell them for a fortune i’ve seen people sell newspapers for a specific day - as in ‘on your the day you were born’ for £50!
sarahgreen15 lol thanks for the suggestion, as I will keep that in mind. I don't have any special editions, although I may do in the pile I have collected
I stock up on somethings....like I bought a lots of shampoos on offer and it will last for me for 4 months and I have place to keep them.
I have brand preferences and some of the things I really like are not on sale. Avenoo products are so expensive. I love the shower gel, but it is way too expensive for me.
I really do not see why would I keep 10box of washing powder and like 15 fabric conditioner....have no place to do that...also they are on sale after every 4 weeks...
I used to get all the glitches, but now I just go for the things I really need...I do not see the point to have a collection of things I do not use.
Aveeno is really good but I agree, so expensive! Boots have offers on it regularly but even then it is pricey! I’m the same, I’m trying to resist things I don’t need
I am somewhere inbetween. I have a few items that I have a collection of but that's because I've won them and not used all of them yet. I only tend to buy what I need.
Saying my house is full of a lot of baby stuff but all of it is used on a daily basis so not sure that counts as hoarding...
Most definitely a minimalist. People walk into my house and ask when we are moving?!
My previous house was very open-plan and key pieces of furniture downstairs area. 2 rooms remained empty for a number of years as we never used them.
When I moved last August, I got rid off (if it was at all possible) a lot of possessions that I held on to for emotional reasons. I still feel guilty about holding on to 2 boxes of marketing and collateral. Absolutely no use to anyone really... Just memories throughout my career.
Thankfully, we have managed to agree only to buy experiences, consumables or replacement items for gifts. It's just how I roll.
P.S. I do not have kids! Ignore all of the above if you do as this would be impossible!
