Home Remedy for a Sore Boat Race
Other
As promised in an earlier thread (@Janhrrs) here is what I did after a sore face was driving me nuts for 6 weeks, as outlined in An Ode to My Face. Long story short, I had antibiotics and 2 trips to doc and two lots of cream and antihistamines, no improvement.
No one knew what it was but allergy and bacterial infection were bandied around and the latter made sense as I work with kids from 0 to 12/14 every day.
I did some research and googling and decided to try natural remedies with natural antiseptics. Ginger, lemon, tea tree, tumeric, garlic, honey, coconut. I began drinking turmeric tea, and honey/ginger/lemon tea. I added grated ginger and fresh lemon juice for added potency. I then made up a potion of coconut oil with tea tree essential oil and after a patch test used freely. I also drank fizzy vitamin C tablets.
Within 2 days it had more or less cleared up. Happy days! Any other stories of good home/natural remedies?
A couple of weeks ago I had a nasty sty on my right eye, never suffered with these previously. Went to the pharmacist to buy some cream and they don't sell it for sty's, just said to apply hot and cold. Well after a cup of herbal tea was made I saved the T Bag, added hot water to it and placed it on my eye......result sty had disappeared within a couple of days.
Just goes to show that big pharmacy were very clever in making us believe that their drugs and medicines were better than everything we have had at our fingertips for hundreds of years. Don't get me wrong, there is definitely a place for modern medicine but herbs, spices etc were put here for us to use.
