Homemade Food Ideas from Different Cultures

Ask a Question

Need some recipes from different cultured foods, I know about English and punjabi dishes but still open to learn more. However, I will be grateful if you share other countries and cultures.

I haven't got a recipe to share, but one to lookup. When I was in Ireland I had Irish stew and it was so delicious - much nicer than I expected! I keep meaning to find a recipe to try it, so maybe you could too?

Simple chicken

In a medium bowl, mix all the marinade ingredients with some seasoning. Chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces and toss with the marinade. Cover and chill in the fridge for 1 hr or overnight.

In a large, heavy saucepan, heat the oil. Add the onion, garlic, green chilli, ginger and some seasoning. Fry on a medium heat for 10 mins or until soft.

Add the spices with the tomato purée, cook for a further 2 mins until fragrant, then add the stock and marinated chicken. Cook for 15 mins, then add any remaining marinade left in the bowl. Simmer for 5 mins, then sprinkle with the toasted almonds. Serve with rice, naan bread, chutney, coriander and lime wedges, if you like.

The attached recipe for Irish Stew is from an Irish website:

Lovely served with Irish soda bread, which the big supermarkets stock.

If you like spicy food, and you’re feeling adventurous, try Xian food - they use the peppercorns that are numbing which adds a different dimension to your dishes

One of my favourite recipes: Peruvian chicken with green sauce, black beans and rice.

I use this recipe for the chicken and sauce : https://thewoksoflife.com/peruvian-chicken-green-sauce/

And i serve it with black beans cooked in a little stock with

a bit of diced onion and pan juices from the chicken. Plus white rice. Yum yum yum!
