Honeycone Gravel membrane... Any Good ?

Other

I am currently digging up my drive and want to put gravel down eventually (it’s a hard slog this digging lark!).

my drive is on a very slight slope but I’m hoping to dig and take it as level as possible. I’ve read online that if I use gravel membrane it will stop the gravel ‘travelling‘ but it’s going to cost around £200 so before I buy it I wondered if anyone has any thoughts or knowledge about it and if it’s worth buying. Most reviews online are quite positive. Thanks in advance 😊

I have never seen or heard of this but will be interested to see how this thread goes as I would be interested in semi gravelling my garden.

Most of what I’ve read on the internet is positive. It’s supposed to be easy to install and relatively cheap to do.

That looks very interesting. Never heard of it before but I'll keep that in mind.

They are good, although I have never used on a slope. Make sure you use a good quality terram as well underneath.

Thank you. Yes I’ve been looking online and already have that in mind. The reviews I’ve read have said as long as it is laid properly then it’s fine on a slope So my slight slope should be ok.

I live near the National Memorial Arboretum and they use this as it is easier for wheelchairs, scooters, prams etc, especially on the inclines. It works really well there and does stop it getting kicked around, all depends on whether you can justify spending the money as opposed to buying a big broom. Could you not get the edge protectors that should stop it going out to the sides and just get a little bit of this for the base of the drive?

Myself and 2 of my children park on the front and it was dirt and hardcore so I am in the process of digging it up and need to do a decent job of laying a new drive. It looks awful Image

It also goes straight to a public footpath so I would be out there all the time with a brush !

I don’t mind spending the money if it works as it desperately needs doing and doing it this way is ALOT cheaper than getting in the professionals. Just need confidence in myself that I can do this 😬

nipperjwb of course you can do it, try and get a fine a gravel as possible so it sits within each recess without gaps. It's a lot easier than paving slabs as you don't have to get it completely flat first. Have you looked at B&M if you have one near you, I'm sure the garden centre bit has this stuff?
