I don’t keep any nowadays, although I have done in the past. I’d rather have flowers and plants just in the garden
I have lots of indoor plants, many are years old which I take cutting from to cultivate more. My peace lily must be at least ten years old and still flowers. I tried to split the lily but that was unsuccessful.
I don't have many indoor plants as I have a bigger garden now, but I do believe that they are good for you by way of using carbon dioxide and creating oxygen https://www.ducksters.com/science/ecosystems/oxygen_cycle.php
That was quite a long article, was there a part of it you were particularly interested in?
I find the question itself quite interesting as we have a lot of these Dracaena "Golden Coast" plants and peace lilies and a couple of others that are high oxygenating plants at work. They were specifically chosen for that purpose and I have been starting to get some for my house too as I like the way they look. I'd never really thought about the environmental impact of the pots, heated greenhouses, peat and transport etc though. Makes you makes you wonder if artificial flowers and plants may be better for the environment, especially if you can get some that are made from natural fibres.
oh no, now its houseplants that are the problem. I won't mince my words on this - b**llocks. As some who is a big gardener with over 10 houseplants in their old living room alone (let alone the rest of the house) anyone who has plants are bad for the environment is a idiot. As for all the plastic pots, I have loads. loads and loads. You know what I do with them? I use them every March-June to firstly germinate seeds, then I move the seedlings up to the next size pots, etc until they are ready to plant out. I reuse mine every year. That's recycling. I know every aspect of our daily lives is being targeted about being substainable, but don't start on us gardeners. When I grow my own veg that saves on petrol etc by buying it at a supermarket. If Greta would like a word, send her round.
I don't have any houseplants because I damage their environment. I kill everything plant wise it's not intentional I just forget to water them. I did however have a cyclamen for 5 years only because they're the sort of plant that thrives on neglect, this relationship worked for us until I killed that too
I have several types of succulents grown from cuttings from my mum's, 3 cactus and a small ficus. All easy to care for plants as I don't have a green thumb. Only the ficus is in its nursery plastic pot, the others are all in glass, ceramic or terracotta pots.
My sister is really into houseplants, and succulents. All small in individual pots. She wants a terrarium next
I have an orange tree and a lemon tree in terracotta pots in my sunroom. They are attractive and produce edible fruit.
I'm a serial plant killer. I just can't look after them. My old neighbour used to revive mine for me
