How to 'Ignore' or 'Mute' Someone
Latest Deals
The LD community grows every day it's only natural you may find a fellow member irksome.
Life's too short so you can now 'mute' a member.
1) Press their name on a post to go to their profile page
2) Press '...' on the top right
This will open a menu from which you can press 'Mute'
You will no longer see their comments, nor get notifications from them. This includes in Chat.
You will see their posts, for example deals and freebies, but not Chat threads.
Please note, to the rest of the site and the public who are not logged in, their comments will still be seen.
They will not know you have 'mute' them. This is the digital equivalent of the first rule in martial arts: walk away.
We have worked hard to make Latest Deals a positive and constructive community. A place you can share tips and ask questions in confidence. We want you to be able to continue to do that and the Ignore function aims to help.
P.S. we now follow a policy of not getting involved between member discussions. If you feel things have escalated too far you can always contact us.
This Is Great But Some Times It's Good To Hear The Negative Comments, You Don't Have To Reply, They can Be Ignored,
Don't Know What Irksome Means Anyway lol But I Know Somebody Who Might Be
Bestoffer Negative =/= Critical
If you think I or others are 'negative' then you'd not make it on HUKD, for example.
From what I gather, LD thinks that the 'ignore' feature is the solution for everything but it's not. This is a deals website so essential for users to communicate with each other, so when one decides to start attacking the other this isn't solvable simply by ignoring him/her as he/she can just do it to someone else sooner or later.
Banning isn't necessarily the solution but give warnings.
There's critical and negative people, and people here need to know to differentiate the two rather than merge the two as one. If people here can't reply to users with critical thinking and be educated then I guess they've censored most of their internet content. I use a lot of websites and don't make use of 'ignore' as I find that petty, pathetic, useless and anti-social as it does nothing good.
If a user gets added to an 'ignore' list then that's something the staff should be concerned with.
I don't think they see it as a solution to everything I think they are just giving users another way of dealing with certain situations . With such a big community not everyone is going to get along and occasionally especially when we can only communicate through the typed word which can be read completely the opposite to what the typer was trying to say people can fall out, having the ignore is just an option to use rather than giving things a chance to escalate further.Obviously it would be perfect if we all just got along and had no disagreements but we are all different and some people can just annoy others sometimes, it happens in all walks of life and probably more so on sites like this.Hopefully i'll never use it but I don't see it as a bad thing having the option.
jinxyjink Fair enough. Here's an example of what can and can't be talked about: The user Bestoffer has been caught stealing deals from HUKD word-for-word and when this is brought up, there's nothing more than just a deafening noise. The staff are okay with him doing that.
This is an example of "negative" thoughts that a few of us have tried to speak up about but it's always swept under the rug.
I love LD but the fact that its staff refuses to acknowledge things like this keeps from being even better. It's just not genuine deals as it is by all regards a copy and paste.
He even stole a deal from me when I'd post on HUKD so in a way it's kind of funny as it just proves further more.
This will eventually bite LD's reputation back when the site becomes extremely popular.
Rockman I won't comment on what a particular user may or may not have done because I personally don't think it's fair to single users out like that and to be honest I don't know if it is true or not. What I will say is that I have been around these deal sites long enough to know that deals are copied and pasted from one to the other many times a day by many users of each sites, it annoys some people that this happens and others couldn't care less.Whilst it doesn't bother me in the slightest I can understand yours and others frustration at seeing it happening but it does happen and on every deal site I have used so is not just happening with users on here. Deals or freebies are copied onto HUKD many times a day from other sites and nothing is done to stop it there either. I really don't see how the staff on here can either monitor or put a stop to it if they even wanted to and it would involve a lot of work. I am not saying you are wrong in thinking it should be stopped, I think many will see it as wrong and many will not care either way. I just think maybe we should accept things like this happen across all the deals/freebie/competition sites, life's too short to be fretting about things like this, yes people have done work to find the deal and post it wherever but once they have posted it wherever it then becomes part of the net and open to absolutely anyone,it is going to happen that things will be copied from site to site and no matter what anyone does it can't be stopped.
I know because I see how much you give to the site that you are a very useful and active member and I do think users who are as involved as much as you are should be listened too so please don't think i'm trying to dismiss your thoughts or say you are wrong as i'm just giving my own thoughts on the subject, which are different to yours but not necessarily right.
As for the biting LDs reputation back when the site becomes extremely popular (I thought it already was) well it hasn't done any harm to HUKD or MSE , it happens on these sites a lot and they are rather popular so I can't personally see how it would affect this site.
please could someone answer me a question! I thought we were only allowed to ‘share’ 3 items per 24 hours. I Have just seen 2 other people that have posted 24 items in 24 hours. How does this happen?
You only get points for the first three posted each day, but you may be able to actually post more than that, I do myself from time to time but not as much as I used to.
Dont you dare imacheap finger s away from the mute if ya mute me hows me you going to get are kicks and lol s
I am bringing attention to this feature on Latest Deals. If you no longer wish to see someone's comments, perhaps because they are always arguing, you can mute them.
I thought would be a good idea to bump this chat up for new people or if you aren't sure how to....
