Can You Win an Instagram Competition Without Following the Creator?

Ask a Question

Do people still have success with instagram competitions if the person they tag doesn’t follow the person who created the instagrammed competition ?

It shouldn't make a difference, unless it is stated that they have to, but I don't know if they are technically allowed to do that.

To be honest every competition is getting harder to win as there are so many more people entering at the moment.

DeBunny I sometimes try to do more creative competitions like submitting photos or writing competitions as I feel less people enter these ones.

zigzag123 Very true or more local only prizes are always good ones to enter. 🙂

I really dislike competitions put on social media , i have won nothing on instagram over time despite entering hundreds and i have recently been getting scammers leaving messages on facebook telling me i have won various competitions and to click on a link which would probably leave a virus, some have a countdown to get back to them before a certain time or i will lose the prize 🙄

But they are so thick , when i check the terms and conditions on them they always have days or weeks before they are due to end , so obviously it is a scam

I mainly enter website competitions now because of this , but so many are now going on social media unfortunately

telmel Seems to be a trend of competitions moving to Instagram etc

But guess you have to kind of move with the times as things evolve. I do still prefer the website comps or email but you can have fun with the Instagram comps just have to sort of embrace it.

I have only won once on Instagram so.far but was an Airfryer so pretty good.

Re scammers I am sure you know but just be really careful not to click any links or when they try to rush you onto confirming.... I always double check where message is coming from and like you said they say you have won before closing date...... Good luck in your future comps 🍀

I entered a ‘sponsored’ one for a hamper of free from goods. I was so surprised to see ‘WINNER’ as I never win anything but do hope and enter. Took a closer look and nearly every other entrant comments also had WINNER. Thought it was only one prize, they wouldn’t be giving that many away! Concluded too dodgy and ignored it. It did look genuine to enter though so very hard to tell.

JLouM There are a lot of scammers out there. Always best to trust your instincts and be careful.

JLouM Was the response from the 'exact' account though? Many will make fake accounts looking almost identical or saying it is their winning announcing account when it is just a scammer commenting on an actual genuine competition, sadly this happens all the time on social media competitions, they hope to get you excited that you've won, where you continue through to 'claim' your prize and it is a scammer taking your details for use later.

Most of the time, these scammers notify you being the winner, before the actual end date and time.

DeBunny I can’t tell. It was a‘sponsored’ post that looked genuine. The winning comment had company name as title. It looked genuine until I saw the same comment hundreds of times. There’s no way there would be that many winners if genuine. 2 or 3 maybe.
