I guess we will find out in the future since this seems to be fairly common these days

I don't see how putting radioactive water into the sea can be safe. It's going to cause some damage surely?

Midnightflower I totally agree, and even the Chinese fisherman are now refusing to fish in the waters they have fished for years as they have asked for some guarantee that it's safe but they have been refused several times ....that surely tells you something.....thanks for your comment

Bonnylass3 well they did once say smoking was safe so it's always worth using your own judgement. I think I will have to be cautious when shopping for fish for a while, I'm with the Chinese fishermen on this one.

I guess they basically have radioactive water which they then blend with non-radioactive water until they get to a level of radiation which they feel is acceptable to dump into the oceans. It's certainly not ideal. Japan feels to me somewhere that should never have nuclear power plants as its so prone to earth quakes. It seems like the oceans have to put up with a lot, plastic particles and other waste, raw sewage, oil spillages, dangerous chemicals and radioactive water. Many have predicted in the past it may get to a point where the oceans die. We may still be a long way from that but it feels like we may get there eventually unless we start improving how we live and reduce the number of people on the planet.
