Keeping Teeth Healthy?

Ask a Question

Hey all..,

My daughter's dental appointment has been cancelled twice during these unpredictable times, they rescheduled just before the lockdown.Luckily I managed to get my son seen by the dentist just before the lockdown,as he had an abcess,he's only nine.My question is how do you keep your teeth nice&healthy?

I floss and purchased a remineralizing toothpaste from amazon, which seems to help the risk of a plaque build up.I eat fairly healthy 🙂 Tell me your routine?

I use an oral irrigator/water floss every night, and I brush with an electric toothbrush twice a day. I rarely have issues with my teeth

hspexy What's that feel like? Is it easy to use? I bought one ages ago, never got round to using it and actually having issues with my teeth right now.

Brush with electric toothbrush & use mouthwash afterwards twice daily. I have a upper back tooth that's been niggling me on/off lately, very anxious of getting an absess/infection right now.

Like hspexy I use a water flosser as well as my electric toothbrush. It's changed my life! I would suggest you use warm water though as cold water can irritate sensitive teeth.

nina090976 my mum actually got meone for Christmas. I think it was off Amazon. The charge lasts a few days. You may find you get some gum bleed initially and do use the lowest setting to start with. Mine has a sort of pulsating setting too which is a bit more vigorous but I wouldn't start with this.

Yes definitely with warm water - first time I tried it with cold and never again! I also use periocleanse now and again, which is a herbal extract you can put into the irrigator. It’s a tad pricy atm but when it’s £13 or so on amazon, that’s when I buy it

I think brushing twice a day is sufficient for children, I think dentists advise to start flossing as you get into your mid teens as far as I know. Other than that you could use mouthwash as well or just brush three times a day I suppose - I know some people like to brush their teeth after every meal

Sugar free drinks are a good call too, better for your teeth

lornaae The problem with sugar free drinks is that they don't taste very nice, but I don't think kids really care.

TheChimp I used to think the same but I much prefer sugar free ones now! And I definitely couldn't tell the difference when I was a kid 🙂
