Did You Know Sunscreens Contains Chemicals That Can Damage Coral?

Ask a Question

I didn't until I read that Thailand bans coral-damaging sunscreens, which are have been found to destroy coral larvae, obstruct coral reproduction and cause reef bleaching. If it's doing this, what is it doing to your skin.

The fine will be 100,000 baht (£2,100) for anyone found using sunscreen containing oxybenzone, , octinoxate, 4-methylbenzylidene camphor or butylparaben

Similar bans ave already introduced in the Pacific island of Palau and US State of Hawaii

Thank you, I'm pleased to know that there are safe products. I'm not playing any exotic holidays but I will definitely change to a more environmental friendly product.

beccatavender They will be definitely more expensive, but that is the price to change the industry. It is straightforward to manufacture a cheap product when you don't care about the harm it will cause, using nocive ingredients. As soon as more people stop using harmful products, the industry will change their minds when the sales numbers fall.
