There are some Android tablets that allow you to use wired (it's normally called "OTG Cable") USBs, Keyboard/Mouse, Gaming Controllers (and wirelessly too) so possibly it could be more handy. Also, there are Notebooks (slimmer than laptops but with the DVD reader removed, for e.g.) and Chromebooks (Android OS-powered).

I'll leave some links and you can check out. Just don't buy anything below 3GB-4GB because then it can start to feel too heavy (slow).

Laptops (Windows)

Chromebook (Android)

Samsung Galaxy (Android)

Note: CeX products are mostly used (new ones are only sold in store behind the counter) so if interested, check at the store that has stock. Could be worth it, who knows.

Note 2: On Android devices he's not going to play the latest console games available but there are some really good alternatives not too well known. And retro emulators too for NES, SNES, Mega Drive, GBA, GBC, PS1, etc (not that I support piracy or anything).

smedleys97 if you're just doing web based stuff, get a Chromebook - they're a lot cheaper than Windows machines. Have a quick Google for pros and cons of Chromebooks though, just to make sure they fit your needs.

MeestairChrees unrelated but today my Windows 10 laptop updated and it was really, really long! It felt like installing the operating system for the first time.

I hate these large updates but otherwise it's great. Android is my 2nd favorite OS but still can't beat Windows, maybe in time it will.

Rockman I still miss Windows XP 😅 Despite some haters, Windows is great - very familiar and easy to use. But for someone just web browsing, probably a waste of money. If I didn't need Photoshop I'd be looking at Chromebook.

MeestairChrees I probably would have bought a Chromebook but I was decided on buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab model (S2). The S2 is really good still but the newer ones are even better for high demanding apps/games (e.g. Dolphin Emulator - NGC/Wii).

Hate Windows but admit that's what I use on my laptop as I like to play a few games. Chromebooks make the most sense if you aren't into gaming although saying that you can run android apps on them including games so there are tons of games to enjoy on chromebooks. I switched my mother over from a windows laptop to a chromebook and I rarely have to sort anything out for her nowadays she just gets on with it. Can't remember the last time she has had a computer problem she didn't sort herself. Back when she had the windows laptop it seemed every week I'd have to sort something for her especially whether she should accept updates.

Had a free laptop from John Lewis Broadband a year or so back featuring windows 10 and only 32GB storage. The operating system just kept increasing in size to the point where you needed a flashdrive to install updates and the only additional software on it was the Chrome browser. Absolute farce of an operating system.
