Mistake duly noted SonsofPitches. Thanks, as usual rushing & didn't check

I would love if they did one of these for Aldi! I don't spend £200 a month in Lidl so wouldn't reach the coupon goal. Might be worth it for the £5 off your first spend though.

Luckily for us, they just build a Lidl down the road so we’ve switched from Aldi to Lidl purely based on this app.. done 3 food shops now and it wasn’t until yesterdays that I found there was stuff I needed that I couldn’t get..

sarahgreen15 very convenient for you. As said great bonus for those that shop there. They seem to be building a lot more stores

sarahgreen15 we have a Lidl which is closer to us than our Aldi, but I have found that I can get 95% of what we need from Aldi, the rest from the Iceland or home bargains next door, in Lidl I only get about 75%. It isn't anything to do with me being picky about items, it is simply that they don't have them so I need to go to Morrisons or Tesco for the rest, which means getting my toddler back in the car etc and driving there. Our Aldi, Iceland and Home bargains are all next to each other so I can just walk between them. Also I found that Lidl nappies aren't that great and for the size my son is in they cost the same as the ones from Tesco, whereas Aldi ones are 71p a pack cheaper. I only tend to go to Lidl when I only need a few items.

I think its a great idea and will keep other retailers on their toes. I don't think I could spend £200 a month there though as they wouldn't have half of the things I need/enjoy. I guess they're looking for commitment and getting ahead of Aldi - gotta love family rivalry.

Aldi and Lidl are owned by completely different people.

MrsCraig I am probably wrong but I heard, years ago that two brothers started Aldi and fell out over a dispute over cigarettes and went their separate ways. Perhaps it's urban myth. (I will go and get to the bottom of the rumour 😂 )

Update - Apologies I was wrong - There's a misconception among some that the founders of ALDI and Lidl were brothers who split. In fact, the brothers behind ALDI split in 1960 over a dispute about whether they should sell cigarettes, according to The Telegraph. Karl thought they would attract shoplifters, while Theo disagreed.

sunny101, I pop in for the odd thing as they don’t stock all I need. Buy more in Aldi than Lidl though

ivenailedit I'm the same - Lidl is closer but I find more at Aldi that I like. (there is also that speed thing they do at the checkouts too 😆 )

sunny101 ivenailedit I can't do a full shop in Lidl. I can get everything I need in Aldi, except a few toiletries as my husband has sensitive skin and I can't seem to find a sensitive one. Plus I don't like the toiletries selection in our Lidl, I can get cheaper toiletries in Tesco and Morrison's than our local Lidl.

sunny101 with the slow checkout process at quite a few different shops lately, Aldi‘s speed is most welcome. Asked why no self-service & told because they have no barcodes for fruit & veg & cashiers learn them off by heart

We started to get the rewards, including the £5 off a £25 shop, last month, although I think a beta version started earlier than that. I hope Aldi does one too

Already used this in one mobile number. I have another spare no and mobile that I need to activate the app to get the additional £5.

I like both shops: Lidl and Aldi.

I used the £5 off twice and now the promotion has ended. If its just on the phone number if they repeat the offer I will be able to do it again but I thought it might be locked to your address.

Not long ago I made an account (couple months ago) for this app, but I got tired of having a different rewards app for every grocery store. 😑 You'd only get real discounts if you spent a lot, anyway.

Yeah, you can probably get a 10%/15% discount on an item you're going to buy, that being said having so many apps to save money on supermarkets is getting tiresome and annoying.

If at least Lidl had a physical rewards card, except they don't.

App this, app that. 😕

Just to be clear, I'm not knocking down these apps, I'm just personally worn out of them.
