They are all coming from abroad these days

We should bayonet them - before they screw us!

lol, I've gone from led (cost about £200 at the time for the house) to now led and smart, I don't think I've probably saved anything!

I buy LED ones when I see them on offer. I have a small stock of them but give them to my children (adults) when they say one needs replacing. I’m also replacing smoke alarms for more reliable and longer lasting batteries. Done our house but husband needs to fit new ones for our daughter. Yes I bought them.

A few years ago the government offered subsidies on low energy bulbs to get them quickly accepted in the marketplace I guess that subsidy is gone now. I even remember energy companies giving out free boxes of bulbs. I don't think I have an old style filament bulb anywhere in my house except maybe the fridge. In my main bedroom I have poundlands halogen replacement LED bulbs and they look a bit cheap but work well enough. They are certainly lasting longer than the older halogen bulbs which didn't seem to last that long.

Does anyone remember those old bed warmers that were fairly large metal sealed enclosures with a standard bulb inside which would heat your bed. That is one device modern bulbs would be rubbish in because they produce a lot of light but hardly any heat. I wonder if anyone still uses those.

I bought my last lot in Home Bargains and Wilko. Far cheaper in these stores than the likes of B&Q, Wickes etc if you ask me 😉

They never seem to last anything like as long as they say they should which is what annoys me. They often quote thousands of hours - but I am sure they dont last anything like as long

I bought a bunch of small/normal LED bulbs recently as they were a good price. Accidentally bought cool white than warm white (it'd be more accurate to call it yellow), but didn't bother returning, it's fine.

I read LED bulbs can be bad for people's eyes, but it's a matter of being careful just like anything in life.
