What Are Your Thoughts on Lilt Being Axed from Supermarket Shelves?
Ask a Question
I think the last time I drink a Lilt was over 30 years ago, when I was a teen. I think it was about then my Mum was diagnosed as diabetic, so we only ever had diet/sugar free drinks in the house after that.
I don't remember seeing Lilt on supermarket shelves, but admit I don't look for it. So, I am not surprised, it's being axed, as I remember it being very sweet.
Do you routinely buy Lilt ?
PhilipMarc Is ithought it was made from with pineapple and lime, but on checking it's grapefruit not lime, so I may have to buy one before it disappears forever, to see what it taste like as my memory is obviously faulty
beccatavender It won't taste anything like it did 30 years ago, unfortunately.
I used to love a full sugar Lilt.
TheChimp Unfortunately, I can't have full sugar anything, as I have now got diabetes, it's sugar free now, although I do very occasionally cheat and have chocolate, Hotel Chocolat, normally when it's on offer.
beccatavender Ah, I see. I read your previous post wrong
I don't eat a lot of sugary things, but I do like a pop every so often.
There's been a lot of diabetes in my family and I hope that it doesn't affect me in the future.
TheChimp Mine too, I was diagnosed with diabetes over 10 years ago and until getting double pneumonia, last year I was able to control it with diet alone. But when I was ill, my sugar levels sky rocketed and since then I have been on medication, just tablets.
beccatavender At least you're not on the jabs, I suppose.
Sorry if I sound insensitive, but a lot of people don't know what diabetes is like.
You wouldn't have been happy with the 26 cakes we had from the Aldi TGOG back recently?
TheChimp I happy if anyone gets a bargain, I keep looking at Discount Dragon and see all the bargains on chocolate and have to resist temptation as I am frightened of needles & I am hoping to avoid that as long as possible
Can't say I've tried any maybe, not sure why the change although I guess fanta is more popular
l remember enjoying Lilt in the past. I have no idea when I last had some though. I didn't even know it was part of the Coke empire or Fanta for that matter. I can't stand diet Coke and while full sugar Coke is nice its a bit overly sweet for me. So really I don't buy Coke products apart from the occasional Costa Coffee.
BonzoBanana I only drink Coke if properly chilled and in the small glass bottles, drinking it from a can or even poured from a plastic bottle isn't very nice.
I remember drinking lilt. I liked it because it was so different from the other pops available and I only brought pops on special offer and I still do.
I will be excited to see what the new Fanta flavour is.
I regularly buy the Aldi knock off version of Lilt - Tropical Blast.
But I don't think I'll particular miss it if it becomes unavailable.
I used to buy cans of lilt every other day when I was younger but it had to be ice cold before I drank it, in saying that I haven't had one in over 20 years now.
It was OK but never a favourite of mine, although I did find it quite nice to help hangovers if I'd been out drinking the night before. I haven't seen it in years though
Iceland sell it, i bought 2 x 2L bottles of it before christmas, it is a lot different now than years ago but still a refreshing drink
I haven't drank it since I was a teenager, so almost 20 years ago. I never really liked it. Can't remember seeing it in the shops recently either.
Really can't remember the last time I saw it being sold anywhere but fear not. Fanta is bringing it back out as a new flavour. Totally Tropical Fanta
The only can of drink from my childhood I really miss is the top deck drinks which were various types of shandy. I used to love those.
