What is the Living Wage ?

In the News

I was reading in the news paper this morning that the government are planning to announce a 5.7 % rise to the living wage but there living wage rise will take a persons over the age of 23 to £9.21 an hour BUT looking at the National living wage foundation currently if your not in London companies signed up to the foundation are currently paying a minimum £9.50 and inside of London its £10.85. Does this create confusion and shouldn't the inferior rate of pay be forced to have another name as I don't know about you but I find it misleading or at best as I said creates confusion .What are your thoughts?

The "Living wage foundation" is voluntarily paid by over 7,000 UK employers. It is important not to mix with the Government National Minimum and Living wages, and they are different things.

The Living Wage Foundation calculates what they believe is a fair wage for people meeting their needs every year. The companies voluntarily choose to be part of it, and you can try to get your company involved too.
