Lockdown Parties
Ask a Question
Would you risk a 10,000 fine to have a birthday party.
Does it make you a bad person having little parties
If you have £10,000 to waste if you got caught then you have too much money. I wouldn't risk it to lose for 10K for a birthday party and also we are in a pandemic/lockdown currently so why would you want to risk spreading the virus, unless you don't believe it?
No I wouldn't and anyone else who has one with more than their bubble's worth of humans is giving a two fingered salute to the rest of us! Rita Ora and all the other people/fake celebs who thought they were more important than the rest of us should have lost their income - harsh but it's an opinion from someone who had it last March.
I wouldn't do it, not because of the fine but because it is plainly too risky and irresponsible. There's a good reason we can't all mingle as we would like and a birthday party is not nearly a good enough reason to break those rules.
No one with an ounce of sense would , not because of the fine but from a sense of community and public spirit . Sadly that is rare these days so there will be lots of fines . I believe it is now £10000 to organise one and £800 to attend one after the Home Secretary's brief this evening .
"Lockdown party" doesn't sound very exciting so why even bother. You'd be giving them a reason to charge you £10k while real crimes happen and they don't do anything about it.
The police always seem more inclined to 'investigate' the crimes that they benefit from financially. However, if I was a police officer I wouldn't want to go into the party to break it up - you could so easily become infected!
I personally wouldnt risk have a lockdown party, but i know someone whos had loads of parties in her small 2 bedroom flat since the start of covid last year.
Yes it does make a person a bad person to have parties during a lockdown. They're as irresponsible as a person who would fire a gun into a crowd of people without actually aiming at a specific person, then expect not to be called bad, or even murderers, when they eventually kill someone.
It seems that a lot of people aren't abiding by the rules, so everything is going to go t*ts up.
I saw my arsehole of a neighbour without a mask again today when he was at the fruit and veg van. If he wants any help from me in the future, I wouldn't give him the skin off my sh*t.
Covid is serious, fine all people who don't comply.
Hopefully it will all be over by 2022
I was thinking same other day after watching two lots of different people on tv swigging from a bottle and then the other taking a swig without even wiping it, not that it would do any good.
Tbh I don't think any of us will be blowing on cakes, sharing drinks etc when this is all over. I am not sure shaking hands with strangers, let alone hugs, will be on the cards much.
I can think of lots of things Id have liked for my birthday, Covid wasn't one of them so I skipped on the party.
I don't do parties anyway. Give me to much stress and anxiety. A couple of neighbours had parties at first lockdown. Totally like it's fine blah blah. This lockdown have hardly seen them. Makes me wonder if they had covid. Hadn't seen them or their kids for about 2 weeks ( they are always out and about) karma can be a *****
It would be a NO from me. Even if the fine was £1000....the thought of giving my hard earned money away would annoy and frustrate me more than the fun of a single party. Maybe I am risk averse but would like to think not joining or having parties now will help ensure I get to enjoy many more once COVID is under control. Not sure that will be in the immediate future but loads to keep me entertained at home.
Stupid people having parties should be named and shamed this is the reason why we are one of the worst countries in the world regarding covid as we have a population of idiots. I have friends in Luxembourg and New Zealand who have done the right thing. We just cant do what we are told.
I don't enjoy birthday parties outside of the pandemic so feel it's highly unlikely I would risk 10k to have one
I think party holders and party goers are totally selfish! I can't think of ANY excuse for doing this... knowing how much people are suffering with bereavements, illness, long Covid, loss of income and jobs etc etc ... how can anyone try to justify it? Hammer them with fines, I say ... and put the money towards helping those who need it ...or to the NHS!!!!!
We are way past the stage where people can plead ignorance of the regulations , even the terminally thick !
I never swallowed the "ignorance" excuse months ago - Even if they don't possess an ounce of sense they must be on another planet if they don't know the regulations and the penalties for ignoring them .
TBH it made me sick that since the start of this the brainless have been taking the mickey out of the regulations . Believing at the worst they will be politely asked to move on never thinking about how many people (including their friends and family ) they have almost certainly killed .
There was not enough enforcement last year , you just can't educate and advise some people . More enforcement and maybe build a Prison on some remote island to house the flouters and deniers -they should get on well together .
Golfforall I couldn't have said it better! It takes a lot to get me really riled but these folk do. I wonder how many of them will later complain when they can't get NHS treatment for other ailments ..... with our NHS being swamped and on its knees. End of rant.
I can have as many parties as I want , I've no one to invite so it'd be a party of one ( I think that's still allowed )
I would no way risk a birthday party- not for the fine alone, but for the fact i could get COVID. just not worth it. my birthday is in march, which may mean i have two lockdown birthdays but i am okay with that to keep myself and loved ones safe
Wouldn’t be the risk of a fine that would bother me, it would be the risk to everyone’s health. The lockdown is in place to look after everyone but some seem to just carry on as normal risking so many people around them.
Once again it's nothing about fines if you get covid which I did and nearly died you soon realise parties not happening are only first world problems
