Looking for ideas for Christmas drinks, getting bored with the same drinks year after year, usually just have bucks fizz with lunch and archers& lemonade in the evening, like I said boring, lol
I love Baileys - I love it as a drink - but I also make a baileys ice cream too. Makes me sound like I drink a lot but in truth I probably have about 6 drinks a year lol
suevernon1968 yes I'm the same, not a huge drinker, don't get me wrong I like a drink it's the hangovers after I can't deal with anymore, lol
suevernon1968 ..Our daughter used Baileys to make a gorgeous Cheesecake for our Christmas dessert last year. She's doing the same this year as I still have a bottle of Baileys left from last year, only drink it when she's home from Uni,odd Irish Coffee, well I'm 50% Irish & she's 75% so no better way to celebrate!
telmel...Nice idea but daughter & I use our Baileys to liven up a Dessert either that or Ameretto, which we have in the cupboard too. Not big drinkers, hence having leftover Alcohol! X
Baileys does seem to be more of a winter drink doesn’t it. As mentioned above I used to get a bottle of advocaat at Christmas time and make snowballs. It’s probably the only time of year that anyone drinks it.
suevernon1968 I love snowballs I bought them last year never made my own before they are hard to get in supermarkets
Only time I drink is at Christmas, I don't bother through the year, Corona is my drink of choice, no ideas about fancy drinks ect... sorry
martinlufc5637 yes I don't mind a Corona, got I few of them in my drink cupboard
Think most families bring out the Baileys at Christmas, must admit I’m not big drinker either but I do like glass of Baileys at Christmas r even add it to a hot chocolate and definitely baileys cheesecake. My daughter makes a mean cheesecake. For New Year’s Day I go to my parents and my dad and I get out the red wine. Neither of us are big drinkers but we like glass r 2 of red wine. My mum doesn’t like it so dad and I share a bottle then for my birthday- double celebration. I might have drink on long summer evening but that would be wine spritzer and usually only 1 maybe 2 all summer
chele44 yes Bailey's does seem to be the drink of choice, I'm not keen but that cheesecake sounds rather nice
TheChimp oooh whats b52? I've had some good cocktails when out of the years, but the trouble is I can never remember what they are called, let alone what was in any of them,
slightfoot They've got a bit of a kick. Don't drink too many...
I'll be having red wine with dinner. I'll have some rum & cokes in the evening, Iv bought some Black Cherry gin to enjoy too. In the evening I'll serve mulled wine for everyone & crack open the Baileys.
I like wine with Christmas dinner. Prosecco for a toast (not the edible sort! ). Buck’s Fizz or wine for party food. Don’t really do cocktails. Love a small Baileys with ice or sometimes advocat (snowball) and lemonade. Otherwise just soft drinks like Appletiser. I don’t drink much, just special occasions. I’m not keen on mulled wine but a lot of people do like it. It has been suggested to me to try a spoon of honey in it but I haven’t done that yet.
JLouM yes I'm.not keen on mulled wine either, can't get past the perfume smell of it,lol
HappyComperZoe I'm surprised at just how popular Bailey's seems to be, I'm not keen myself, but then again I've not really tried it for years, I shud probly have a go my tastebud may have changed
slightfoot . The only time I ever liked baileys was when it was in a hot chocolate.
Disoranno and Diet Coke is my Xmas tipple, used to be cider but tastes have changed drastically!
kimcress I love a good cider, I live just up the road from thatchers, they used to do a ciderberry wine at the shop it was yummy, but they stopped making it
I suppose my favourite drink would be a tot of Champagne Congac to toast the King and absent friends. Apart from the I don't drink.
I do love baileys with loads of ice also have prosecco or sometimes splash out for a bottle of champagne
Bailey's was my go to Xmas tipple, with ice. Now I tend to drink berry liqueur gin with lemonade. It's refreshing and easy to have a lot!
dudessfern I like the sound of the berry gin, I do like fruity sweet drinks, do you have a particular recipe?
slightfoot no...just a raspberry or strawberry gin liqueur and shop bought lemonade.
I tried avocat southern comfort and lemonade it was so lovely not to drink a lot but really nice
AngelaFowl1959 the trouble is whisky was my teenage drink, not sure I could drink it now without being sick oh the memories
Bucks fuzz ok to start the festive cheer. Like a cheaper version of Bailey's with Xmas meal or a night cap. What's not to like, it's Christmas.
DazLee67 yes I may have to do some snowballs,I'd forgotten all.about them untill this thread
I love a baileys but I’m expecting a baby in Feb… I’m not a big drinker but the fact I can’t drink at all really bothers me!!! I walk past the alcohol section in the supermarket gazing longingly at the flavoured gins and the Christmas themed baileys types….
EmmaRashed get a few bottles in to wet the baby's head, some of the fancy bottles are beautiful
Everyone talks about Baileys a lot, but there are alternatives. Has anyone tried Amarula? Its from South Africa and just as nice as Baileys. I personally think Its nicer.
Google: Bailey's is an emulsion of cream or milk powder, whiskey, chocolate powder and sugar. Amarula is an emulsion of cream or milk powder, fermented marula fruit and sugar. The only similarity is they are sweetened cream liqueurs.
Has anyone tried Tequila Rose? Its like a Strawberry Milkshake.
Google: Tequila Rose is a unique blend of strawberry flavoured cream liqueur with a splash of premium Mexican Tequila.
Both lovely and different
Emerge11 ohh I shall have a look into those,we do like abit of tequila, not had any for a while though, not sure I how I'll handle it these days
Although I am not a drinker I won't say no to a snowball at Christmas, but not the pre-bottled kind. It must be advocaat, lime, lemonade and a dash of vodka, with a cocktail cherry. However, I won't be buying all those ingredients (around £40) when I can get a bottle of Baileys for a tenner!
Bless the late Queen who's favourite tipple was equal measures of Dubonnet & Gin, but mine is Pisang Ambon & Lemonade
slightfoot l still sing the anthem as God Save The Queen, l will never like Charles cos of he's treatment to the late Princess Diana
