McDonalds Voucher

Help

Hi all, I'm really sorry and angry. I have never been ashamed like that before. Today I went to McDonalds store near my uni to have my lunch. I used the voucher on the machine but the machine didn't give me the receipt and it said I needed to collect my order with the number. I waited and waited and the staff called my number. At that time, she wanted me to give my voucher and show my receipt. (Before collecting I talked to another staff that I couldn't get a receipt as the machine said the paper finished on the machine and she said it was ok) I said I put the voucher into the voucher section after I had used and the machine didn't give me a receipt. But she didn't believe me and she said something really bad. She asked me if I knew the difference between the receipt and the voucher. She said you are all (I don't want to say that nationality) same. I was really ashamed and didn't what to do. I left my order there and they didn't pay me back. I called the consumer service and sent an email to tell what happened. They just said they were sorry. I don't care what I paid (I didn't eat anything but I paid) but it cost me millions (of shame).

I'm not from United Kingdom but it never allows people to humiliate me. I know English - even though I'm not native. I have been suffering from stomachache and migraine since then. What should I do?

I am so sorry this has happened to you, it is disgusting what was said to you. I'm sure it could have been resolved by the staff but it appears they took a very negative stance and that is not acceptable when from what you said you informed another member of staff about the problems with your receipt.

I think you did the right thing complaining but I'd be inclined to ask customer service for the number of someone higher up as I'm sure McDonalds would be disgusted to hear a member of staff had said that & they would make sure it was addressed and dealt with.

Thank you very much. I complained to the customer services but I don't know it works - or warning people can be enough or not. They wanted me to give my address for what? I gave it is ok, but will it work to make me feel better? 😞 The lady who behaved me rudely was working as if she didn't like her work, it could be. I do not sometimes love my work, but I do never behave rudely 😞 People said it is a discrimination. I don't want to think it still exists😞

That's absolutely disgusting, they shouldn't speak to anyone like that. I used to work in a Mcdonalds and the store I worked for would have never allowed that. There are higher levels of management that you can complain to starting with Area managers. You may want to start by putting in a complaint to the store manager about the particular member of staff and they may chose to take disciplinary action against them. If you don't want to go back there you could send a written complaint. If you do decide to complain in store then ask for the store manager, else you'll only see a shift manager. You should have been given a refund and an apology at the very least. I'm so sorry you were treated like that.

No refund, even I said I could pay the full price if there was a problem for her but she said "Oh don't you know the system?" To be honest, I just used that machine on the wall and it could be . Do I have to know everything in this country? It was so crowded and I needed to rush to my lesson at uni. I was really ashamed of being there. Everybody was looking at me and I was trying to tell myself - I still remembered her look "Do you know the difference between the receipt and the voucher? These are different." Really? I have been teaching English literature for 10 years - even if I don't teach, who deserves this? I will send them a written complaint tomorrow with my statement that I will get from my bank. Believe me I don't care the money but it cost me millions indeed!

Noneless I understand, you need justice. The truth is (speaking from my own experience only) Mcdonalds is an awful place to work. So she probably does hate her job but that still doesn't give her the right to humiliate anyone. You shouldn't need to send them your bank statement, they should have your order on their system anyway. You may just need to go into store with the card you used to get the money back.

Tasha042 I tried today but they said they could not do this as they were busy and lots of different things they said. They said I needed to tell them that time. But How could I think that time?

Noneless you couldn't have told them at the time if you were upset. You paid for an item you never recieved so you're entitled to your money back. That's disgusting that they're fobbing you off like that. They do hate doing refunds because a manager has to do them so maybe there wasn't one available if it was a busy time of day. But they do still owe you your money back regardless of what they say.

You are better off complaining directly to store management. Google the phone number for the store and ring them up and ask to speak to a manager, then explain to them what happened and that you would like it resolved.

Not sure that works in McDonalds, I saw some people tried to do that before, when the store is so busy....The whole system needs a change...I saw even KFC followed this order and wait thing. I think they were much faster before. Now sometimes need to wait 15min for a breakfast in McDonalds, just put everything in a wending machine and it will just drop it and heat it up and put it together and wrap it. And that way there is no waiting time and we do not need papers to show the food is ours. And all the things is cheap there, so I do not understand why they made such a deal about this.

I agree. It's always better to let know the manager on duty about any issues. In the fast paced environment restaurants it's very likely that the stuff will ,,loose it" at some occasions but it still doesn't allow them to offend anyone!

I work as a manager in a chain restaurant and I can't imagine situation like that happened in my workplace. Please try to check if there's an email for this specific restaurant provided and write to them. I'm not sure what kind of action they'll take but if they asked already for your address they might offer a voucher or something similar.

You should make a formal complaint to McDonalds online and let it go. This way of serving is stupid, soon a machine will drop u the cheese burger with the fries.

I hate the new system. I think they got slow, it was faster before this wait at the counter idea where is no place for 5 people to wait, but sometimes 20+ waiting for their food. Sometimes, I need to wait for a breakfast 15 minutes. I can make my breakfast in that much time.

Also don't these places have cctv to keep everyone 'safe' it would be easy for the management to review what happened. Go back to store and ask for the manager and give them a timeline to check the tapes.

I did an online complaint and they said they were sorry to hear the staff behaved like this. Please accept our apologies and we would warn her etc. I think it was an automatic reply.

Surely there's CCTV to prove you were at the machine?
