Getting Medication Abroad
Ask a Question
Hiya, I am abroad and I will be longer than I thought. I need more medication, is there any way to do it if I contact my gp? Never happened to me before so not sure if need to go to the Dr in the country I am, Spain.
You might be able to get it from a Dr where you are, although they dont have your medical history,it might be tricky.Maybe contact your gp back home and get some advice, hopefully you get it sorted x
nina090976 yes I will need to do that as I don't have ni in the country where I am staying so I doubt they would see me.
Have you the box with your current medication and dosage? If so, a local GP will be able to prescribe a further short supply for you.
I try to make sure i always get my medication before i go on holiday abroad. Contact your GP tell your doctor your situation and make sure your fully stocked up before you go.
TheChimp its just common sense tbh. Ive been on Keppra since 17 and never go anywhere without it and make sure that if im booking a holiday i count my medication before hand and if i dont have enough ill either get more from my doctor or schedule the holiday to another time.
I always plan in advance when going on holiday however I can't go back to uk for external reasons so didn't plan on that. Will contact my gp and see what he can do. Thanks for your replies.
GSM try and get in touch with a local doctor that speaks English and pass on your doctors details to them and what medication you need, they might get the exact medication for you or something similar you can whilst your stuck out there.
Depending where you go, for example, I've heard that if you take your British prescription to a pharmacy in Spain, they'll sell you the medication x
