Messy Partner
Ask a Question
My other half bugs the life out of me, he leaves everything where it falls, ive attempted to not clean up after him but it ends up annoying me before him so i give in and do it then its harder because its been left longer. Anyone else have this problem with their partners?
Yes, I also live with a mess maker! He has what we refer to as the corner. There is one in the living room, the bedroom, the kitchen. Everything gets thrown in the corner and I eventually get annoyed and tidy it up. He does tidy it up himself if I nag him but it is just easier to do it myself.
With my other half it's his tools. He has a garage which is completely his domain but I'm still forever tripping over spanners, screwdrivers and God knows what else in the house....
I am completely OCD i clean my flat once a week completely dusting , hoovering, polishing its immaculate - i cook all the meals from scratch every night do all the repairs car mechanics, plumbing, electrical work even repair all the it stuff and wash the windows inside and out to save us money and have never had a tradesman in my place because in my parents taught me to do everything myself and all my girlfriend does is come in relax and let me do all the stuff she wont even go to the post office which is only a few hundred yards from her work to get me some stamps - Men are not always the worst women can be just as bad!
I have moaned constantly to get her to clean but she just ignores me and i bet the men are the same - its just something you either do or dont and its seems its impossible to change someones attitude to cleaning sadly!
PS. You can always tell someone with OCD at Asda - just count the number of bottles of bleach in the trolley lol
garygemmell oh trust me some women are just as bad its just women tend to hide it whereas meb in general dont care what people think
Lis Tell me about it!
I was not kidding!
You dont seem to know much about the illness i suggest you watch the tv series ocd cleaners!
Cleaning and organisational ovd are two of the most prevalent and I have both!
The number of bottles of bleach i go through a week and all the repetitive stuff can drive one mad!
Ive been diagnosed with ocd but a common misconception is that it always means you are obsessively clean. That wasnt my main problem mine was obsessively checking windows and doors were locked, the cooker was switched off, plug sockets turned off etc i had CBT and im fine now
joannecroston Its hellish isnt it i have the repetitive one as well - going through doors the right way repeating an action until the mind is clear and says it ok to proceed, cleaning is the worst i used to wash my shopping when i got it home before i could put it in the cupboard and it got worse when i started smoking cannabis when i was younger so there is a warning for anyone who thinks cannabis is ok it also killed my best pal he was a para schizophrenic started smoking it one week then hung himself at his front door!
Yeah i feel for anyone who has extreme ocd it robs you of time, money and your sanity!
PS. I had 7 bottles of Asda smartprice bleach in my trolley yesterday its pretty ridiculous i go through 1 just having a bath!
garygemmell yeah i used to drive off from my house get 5 minutes up the road and then doubt that id locked the front door so id drive back and check. At my worst i woukd do this up to 3 times before i finally drove to where i was going. When i had my son i would wake up so many times in the night and go check he was still breathing, they warn you so much about cot death that i became obsessed about checking on him. My son is now 14 hes asd adhd and has ocd traits. He cuts every label out of his clothes, will only eat from certain dishes, wesrs his socks inside out, he presses buttons on crossings exactly 22 times theres loads more but thankfully hes got a lot of support from his pediatrician, school, occupational therapy etc
joannecroston Thre are people who are worse i was watching that ocd programme on tv and one woman spends 8 hours every day cleaning her house and only uses her microwave as she doesnt want to use her oven or other utilities in case it messes up her kitchen now thats bad.
I think it has all come from pollution especially benzene from cars (it can actually change your dna) and all these things never existed in my grans time so the rise of cars and our polluting the planet is driving us mad as well as killing us.
garygemmell well you learn something new every day i didnt know it was even possible to change you dna. Will have to read up on that thanks
joannecrostonI will save you time just read this and be afraid very afraid - Leukemia, cancer, dna and the only safe amount to breath in is ZERO!!! No wonder all the cities with their pollution are causing so many problems for kids walking to school or stranded in traffic jams sucking that exhaust from the car in front!"
Ever wonder why people who live in the mountains, remote islands or places where there are no cars live to over a 100 and have little to no health issues!
No one wants to talk about the ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM THOUGH they all keep harping on about climate change even though the actual cause of climate change is OVERPOPULATION!
Benzene is classified as a carcinogen, which increases the risk of cancer and other illnesses, and is also a notorious cause of bone marrow failure. Substantial quantities of epidemiologic, clinical, and laboratory data link benzene to aplastic anemia, acute leukemia, bone marrow abnormalities and cardiovascular disease.[58][59][60] The specific hematologic malignancies that benzene is associated with include: acute myeloid leukemia (AML), aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).[61]
The American Petroleum Institute (API) stated in 1948 that "it is generally considered that the only absolutely safe concentration for benzene is zero".[62] There is no safe exposure level; even tiny amounts can cause harm.[63] The US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) classifies benzene as a human carcinogen. Long-term exposure to excessive levels of benzene in the air causes leukemia, a potentially fatal cancer of the blood-forming organs. In particular, acute myeloid leukemia or acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (AML & ANLL) is not disputed to be caused by benzene.[64] IARC rated benzene as "known to be carcinogenic to humans" (Group 1).
As benzene is ubiquitous in gasoline and hydrocarbon fuels are in use everywhere, human exposure to benzene is a global health problem. Benzene targets liver, kidney, lung, heart and the brain and can cause DNA strand breaks, chromosomal damage, etc. Benzene causes cancer in animals including humans. Benzene has been shown to cause cancer in both sexes of multiple species of laboratory animals exposed via various routes.[65][66]"
garygemmell unfortunately i dont see everyone giving up their cars and other transport. This is one if those 1 lerson coukd give uo their car but its the bigger picture and i cabt see how the modern world can easiky change this
joannecroston Yeah like climate change which is really related to overpopulation and if China, India and Africa keep going there is no real solution they are actually the ones cutting all the trees down, increasing car useage and coal etc etc etc whilst the west tries vainly to mitigate the rise by switching off lights, not using planes as much what a croc of pony and trap it all is.
Its funny the politicians and climate change activists never mention this but its all about the taxes and carbon credit nonsense to keep the rich and powerful in control of the masses isnt it - some of us arent sheep i prefer to be a wolf!
>;o)
garygemmell the west is huge, its the whole of america & europe. Surely we are contributing to climate change too? The majority of russia is in asia and that is the country that has more trees than any other country in the world. Im not disagreeing as such just id rather question and discuss than accept someones answer (also not a sheep haha)
joannecroston Yeah i don't disagree with you but the thing is its overpopulation that is the problem and with most folks being poor they will burn wood, oil rather than go solar or wind power because they simply dont have the money - China uses more of the worlds resources than any other country and there are 1.5 billion people in China, Next is India then Africa and they breed out of control with no thought to their environment and consume consume consume.
The robot sentinel in the movie The Matrix was right when he described humans like a virus lol
garygemmell what would be the solution? I know poorer countries have more children but they also have a much higher mortality rate and although they are burning more wood, they arent using fossil fuels to run tvs, phones etc. Surely it must balance out if a tribe in africa burn wood but dont have much of the modern technology that the first world has. Man has been using wood for fires for centuries climate change is a modern problem. Over population is also due to better heathcare in the first world. People are living longer, having children longer and many deadly diseases are now curable. Is health care interfering with nature? Ive often wondered if we didnt have the technology and health care we had woyld our planet be much more sustainable. I think so.
How did we go from moaning about messy partners to this?
joannecroston Its no that its the number of cars - just look at India and Mexico and China they are all wearing masks and the fog in Delhi and Mexico recently blotted the sun out = its the Benzene that will kill us not climate change!
Lol you know it‘s love when you realise you have assumed the role of his mother, and have a man child for life
joannecroston lol and he is perhaps the least well behaved of the lot and probably even gets child 1, 2 and 3 together to gang up on you
hspexy erm id say hes on a par with the kids but i cabt take his ipad or send him to bed
garygemmell lol yes, I believe they are. The ones that are in denial are definitely not enjoying their lives to the max
hspexy I am 17 and every day is my birthday
THINK YOUNG STAY YOUNG IS MY MOTTO!
I am still climbing trees 40 years on from school (mostly to get my quadcopter back lol)
Ever seen an auld guy 50 foot up an oak tree its some sight!
garygemmell lol that’s the spirit I wish I could climb trees, but I never have been good at it, not even as a kid. I’ve fallen from a tree once...it’s definitely easier to recover when you’re younger
Mine is disgusting leaves me everything to clean up even the number 2 down the toilet or he go to work before I wake send me pics saying left you a present
joannecroston roflmao
Do it take some video and upload to youtube - it will make you millions lol
I go through this problem at least once a week. He’s not so bad but some days he just is so messy. They’re not programm themselves to do it, it’s automatic for us. The funny thing is he tells the kids off for it. Anything he leaves on the side I’ll pop it in his bag every so often. If clothes are left I put them in a neat pile and refuse to wash them unless in the wash basket. paperwork gets thrown into his wardrob. so there’s consequences for their actions. It drives me crazy too. I’m not perfec, but it’s probably because by The time I’ve spent my time sorting everyone’s mess I’m too knacks to finish what I need to do lol
we feel your pain
I know exactly what u mean about telling the kids off. My son grated some cheese and it was all over the worktop and floor. Later that night after i went to bed my other half decides to make himself some pasta, when i came down ib the morning the sink was full with pasta still in the pans and there was literally grated cheese everywhere i text him and said have you been using cheese as confetti
I live with a messy man. He leaves his clothes everywhere, his shoes/slippers never go into the rack. Now a days I have stopped cleaning behind. He does clean after few days.
