Mighty Robots with Power Punches
In the News
Modelling the mechanics of the strongest punch in the animal kingdom, researchers with U.S. Army funding built a robot that mimics the movement of the mantis shrimp. These pugnacious crustaceans could pave the way for small, but mighty robotic devices for the military.

Despite being very small Mantis shrimp can deliver a '60-mile-per-hour punch'. A lot of people keep them in fish tanks at home, but they should be kept in reinforced aquariums. Otherwise Mantis shrimp can crack the glass with a punch. Kind of worrying the military want to replicate their punch in robotic form.
