The energy company is handing out free electric blankets to some of its customers. This is. 1. Going to cost customer more to use.
2. The energy company is going to benefit from the
Customer using it.
3. Would it not be better to reduce the energy price,
Instead of spending out on all these blanket?
What do you think?
It’s cheaper to run an electric blanket than turning the heating on high. It’s a generous offer but we’re not customers of theirs.
I applaud any company trying to help the vulnerable.
Thats a lovely gesture. Heat the person not the home is the advice I believe and electric blankets cost alot less to run. If you check out there website they say
We're not making a profit right now. In fact, we never have. We’ve repeatedly cut into the very small amount we charge to cover all of our costs to keep prices as low as possible through the crisis. In normal times, we typically charge customers a slim 5% margin on top of wholesale energy to cover our business costs and reinvest in growth. In the crisis, we're not even doing that. Instead, we've absorbed £150 million of the high energy costs last year to keep them off peoples' bills.
I believe its there suppliers who are making the huge amounts of profit not the companies we buy directly from. I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it better.
Imnotcheap I'm with Octopus too, apparently we'll be formally invited to apply tomorrow (Monday). As the offer is limited I'll probably not apply, leaving the limited offer to the most vulnerable, then again I might apply and if succesful give it to someone who I know to be vulnerable.
Imnotcheap I wish you luck. In the unlikely event that I do get one you might be considered. You're not getting an invite to the party I'm not having though
Imnotcheap I've just seen that octopus are also offering extra help for customers who are struggling. Im not a customer but they do seem like a good provider.
Midnightflower right now only just paying off what we owe and not turned heating on yet
Imnotcheap We just got a really cheap Asda Hot Indian style takeaway meal, for two today for a £1. It included a vindaloo. We definitely don’t need the heating on!
