Another National Lockdown

Ask a Question

What do people think of another national lockdown? And school staying open? I'm at the point where I'm not sure of what's going on lol

You and me both, love. I have sympathy with any government trying to deal with this pandemic but the confusion, lateness and irrationality of the rules is what seems to annoy most folk.

Lynibis I agree, it’s constant change and every day something different is imposed or it feels like that

It's been my contention since the whole sorry saga began that no one anywhere has any idea what's going on , is a lockdown or a locked up ? Image

Sorry to hijack the post for a minute, Leeann.

No one really knows what's going on here when it comes to the kids going back to school.

It's supposed to be the 11th, but it'll probably change tomorrow.

Basically in full lockdown now. Kids going to school, the way I see it is they have been on Christmas holidays now for what 16 days and the virus is still spreading like mad. How is it the kids spreading it? I’m just sick of it all and just praying it’s all over soon. Stay safe everyone xx

I can see one happening PHW will be releasing back log of 2 day numbers tomorrow, today’s were for 31st.

If you think back to March Pms tried keeping schools open, but unions thought to close them. Drakeford review this week nothing will change so only more heart arch for businesses

I can see all schools closing again, definitely. But most likely for not as long as last time though.

I think another lockdown is needed, but they need to be strict and start making sure the rules are actually being enforced. Some areas really don't seem to bother much with enforcing the current Tier rules, so it's just going to keep spreading.

Lockdowns clearly don't work, otherwise we wouldn't be where we are now. Schools were closed during the first lockdown, but once lockdown was lifted and the schools went back, infections rose again. All lockdowns do is to slow down the spread of the virus, not actually get rid of it. I do think that certain restrictions should remain in place however. Something that certainly should have been done in the first place was to stop all incoming flights.

makes sense to me to have another lockdown, people are traveling in between tiers as they don't understand. As for schools its becoming a right mess, the government has lost control of it now, schools are making their own decisions, some councils making their own decisions, parents doing the same and then the unions telling teachers not to go in

The more tiers there are, the more lockdowns there are. All of it will impact people's mental health and some have already committed suicide which isn't surprising, but it's always sad as they didn't deserve or should have done so.

People are okay with lockdowns, then they've decided their future.

The fact that so many people flout the rules and don’t follow guidance is unlikely to change if we are put in a full lockdown. I do believe it is needed at again though but not sire it will happen

it was suggested before Xmas that we’d have a National lockdown right after. I’m not surprised. I’m only surprised that people are surprised by it

I think another national lockdown is needed as the whole tier system is a mess along with the school fiasco. There is far too much confusion throughout the country.

to be honest it doesnt make sense does it.

NO you cant go shopping or to a restaurant, but your kids can go to school...mingle...you / partners can go to work and mingle BUT shops are the issue here?

no no no

schools are a breeding ground, i have 5 kids even i have to remind them "wash your hands" "anti bac your hands" "don't touch things in the shop"

and work places, my husband works in a bay with 8 other people, they dont social distance because its building (metal) so they cant, he takes his measures to insure he stays safe, but the other men dont care. BUT if he wants to keep his job he cant not go in.

I think if they are going to lock down then lock the whole thing down not pick and choose.

Lockdowns only work to reduce infections short term & imo are doing more harm than good when you weigh up all the disadvantages. What's needed is better protection. My in law works at a local hospital on a covid ward. They have to wear triple layer medical masks, several weeks ago they had a stock shortage & had to resort to wearing standard masks for ONE day. Nine members of staff became ill because of that one day. We should all be looking at better standards/quality of masks & enforcing wearing them correctly & wearing them in ALL settings along with hands & space, imo that could have a huge impact on figures.

My son's education was severely affected by school closures (year 5 at the time) , so I'm all for schools (primary) remaining open if they can with the caveat that each be monitored and closed if there is a need.

The one positive thing I have detected is that at long , long last a majority of people are only now beginning to take this thing seriously .

Obviously there is still a minority of numbskulls , but increasingly they are being universally regarded as social pariahs .

Of course the tier system was fine in scientific theory but ignored the fact that a sizeable minority ignored the regulations thus making them ineffective .

Treat yourself and others as infected (including friends and family ) at all times , obey the rules (not social media sites ) and we will get through the next couple of months to the light at the end of the tunnel .

We can (and certainly do ) infect and get infected by people while showing no symptoms , hopefully this is now becoming obvious to virtually everyone ?

Correct, slow to react and nearly zero enforcement of rule breakers.

I don't understand why I can't go to the vape shop but can go to b&q or argos! I can go to work every day but can't see my family!
