The New "Normal" Anyone Have Any Problems with It ?

In the News

Down my local tonight , as usual , ok a nice community local. Maybe a bit quieter than normal for a Friday but the normal banter and ambience was still there .

The new restrictions were in place but no enforcement was necessary by the staff as we all knew them .

I felt so comfortable in the knowledge that my local pub and its clients know the new rules .

I do accept that in other places the experience may not be the same ! But if observed sensibly there is surely no reason we can get through this and keep our Pubs and restaurants going .

We are well in the clag at this moment - we all know which part of society is to blame . I am very aware of limits now being expected of our youngsters .

Its 6 months - I hope the "entitled " generation can accept that and not turn it into years .

Went to my local pub on Weds night for a bite to eat. We are in local lockdown here in Newcastle so most of the new restrictions were already in place. I hadn't been in almost 2 months but my experience was pretty much the same as yours. It was perfectly fine. It was a little quieter than usual but I expected that. Regulars who were in didn't seem to stay as long as usual (us included). Staff & customers were observing all the rules. Everyone was freely giving names & addresses for track & trace. I like my local. It doesn't attract the riff raff & serves decent food. I'd hate to see it go.

Yes i accept it will be a bit different , but the rules should be apparent to any intelligent person , and no problem to me . Just hope common sense prevails for the next few months .

I’m glad your local is still getting their usual customers. Unfortunately it’s bars in cities that are going to struggle with the 10 pm closing. I doubt local pubs will suffer.

I don't go to the pub anyway and none of the new regulations have any impact on me. I have noticed how many old people won't take it seriously too, the younger generation that I know personally are being sensible

The new "normal" around here is wearing masks to enter establishments, and no handshakes, but the rest are all as usual.

Meaby the new normal is what the world needs people have been living a life most can hardly afford for a long time this is a chance to hit the reset button realise what is important and carry it on when normal day to day life resumes

I agree with what's already been said here.... maybe we too are lucky in that the places we go people are considerate and sensible in trying to do their part to combat Covid. ... We've had to travel over 1000 miles in a few days to help my dad-not from choice- and Starbucks on the M6 was the sole place where I had to chase them for track and trace etc....All the other stops were brilliant and customers too.

I've only been for a pub meal a few times over the last few months, and I was impressed by their hygiene measures. Plus the fact, I like table service rather than standing at the bar area.

My parents just still don't get it.

My mum was complaining today that she had to scan a QR code to be able to have a cup of coffee inside Costa.

Both parents are in their mid-70s and really don't give a 💩 about Covid and won't follow the rules.

My dad appear to be good although he was a little slow to get it he 74 but woman around the same age who lives down the road encourages others to not bother with masks

I see a lot of people wearing chin straps
