NHS Need 250000 Volunteers

In the News

With government one minute saying stay in how many people are going to help with this myself sadly not being selfish but could never put myself forward due to family.

So are they finally going to give them protective clothing? As far as I’m aware, they’ve not bothered with existing staff, so not sure how this will attract people to help out

Can you post more than one topic an hour spexy?

Seems some members have been banned or limited to one per hour!

Ann1984 I reckon they don’t have much to give out. In fact they had to use the equipment from Holly City to deal with shortages 😳

garygemmell no, I’m also limited to one an hour. Did you just see a post about fruit pickers? That was from yesterday 😊

Ann1984 one would think so. But I have a friend who is a health care worker who has had to buy her own supplies as her employer wasn’t giving her anything. I guess if we don’t manufacture it in the uk, it takes a while to get what is needed

If I was in better health I would perhaps consider it, but I feel probably as many will it's too much of a risk. My best friend is a nurse usually just part time but she is working all the hours at the moment, not been able to talk to her much because shes working but had a brief chat yesterday & she is absolutely knackered, as I expect most the medical staff are. So they really need the help.

Hi Ann1984 I think it is a really good idea to help take a little of the pressure off NHS staff. I looked on the NHS site and followed the link below. You can help in many different ways some from your own house ☺️

Ann1984 no worries, I hadn't heard of the request at all (buried my head to news yesterday) so I'm really glad you put it on here. Stay safe and enjoy the sun x

Glad some folks are helping rather than just sitting back and moaning old minnies OR THE "WOE IS ME" brigade as I call 'em - I always thought Brits were supposed to be the British Bulldogs and Stiff Upper Lip but i guess that was pre 1960 its all millenials who havent a clue cant even boil an egg and now panicking over no TP to wipe their arse!

I wonder how many of the people who like to tell me what to do on here also signed up for this.

The thing is, I have. I'm not looking for praise but hope the self righteous regulars who've told me what a bad person I am now show how amazing they are because real life is where it counts people, not what you write on an Internet forum.

Now I've made my point, I wish the best of luck to anybody joining me!

Haha are you my secret brother or is it sister?

Is Dennab not a star or constellation - You arent a fellow astronomer are you - i can show you my Celestron 8 if you show me yours lol

- I was thinking exactly the same thing.

The old grannies and PC brigade they bleat and whine and criticise but its folks like us who actually get off our arses and help out.

Personally i am doing PASTA SHOPPING for my next door neighbour she has had cancer and is very frightened she used to go out every day with her friends and now I havent seen her opr her husband leave their flat for 2 weeks now on my ipcams - not a single ipcam alert in my place only the postman!

Also building a PC for an auld guy i met on the internet forums he is alone and needs a decent machine and with a garage full of servers and pc's you name it i "borrowed" loads of stuff when i was on the road doing network and pc repairs for various companies lol

Oh and must not forget giving (some) folks a laugh on here and keeping a strong spine and the spirits up rather than moaning about pasta and TP eh!

garygemmell Good work sir. I identify as 'misunderstood' on here at least 😄 Astronomy is something I often thought I wanted to get into but couldn't be arsed. I saw a space shuttle go up once. That was fun. We clearly share a liking of science and technology though! Also, yes, making people laugh is one of my favourite things to do. Some just don't get it.

Dennab Haha "MISUNDERSTOOD" thats a new one!

I just identify as strange, odd, crazy, weird, mad , nuts, loony toons but i find its the crazy weird folk that are the most interesting and the best its the so called "ordinary" folks you have to worry about ie Dennis Nilson, Dennis Raider, Ted Bundy the list is endless...

I have learned the X-Files motto TRUST NO1 is the perfect one to live by you wouldnt believe the number of peoiple I have helped over the years or my family helped who turned their backs on us and stabbed me in the back but i just laugh now disaster is my middle name so this Coronavirus is just a tiny little blip on the backside of humanity to me - In true Glasgow Irish stylee I say BRING IT ON IF YER ARD ENOUGH CORONA-V.

Thats what we need a good gee up and confidence none of this woe is me i have no pasta or TP to wipe my arse - it makes Brits look real bad - all my friends in eastern europe have been telling me the jokes about Brits and TP are legend now - we will never live this down for sure!

From the BRITISH LION to the WHIMPERING PVSSIES eh!

By the way, please look at the website everybody because a lot of you clearly have the wrong idea about what this scheme is and making assumptions (again). Some of the volunteers simply need to be on the other end of a phone.
