Observations on My First Walk since March 22nd
Other
Desperately needed my garden waste bags so I can get rid of all the greenery I have chopped in garden.
Took mask off half way as could hardly breathe in this heat but put back on before entering shop. Touched nothing except the bags, dropped coins wrapped in anti bac sheet into shopkeeper's hand (he seemed puzzled but pleased) and started home.
Noticed that a lot of the pavement was blocked by overgrown greenery from trees shrubs etc and couldn't help wondering why a council worker, alone, could not be trimming these whilst keeping safe on near empty streets?
Also passed about 8 people and not one moved aside to observe social distancing, it was down to me every time.
Finally, I am pleased I went as apart from the much needed exercise, it broke the back of the fear I had felt about going out, bit worried I was developing agoraphobia!
Do you feel alot better now for doing this Lynibis. I been in since 13th March to be honest not missed it but I would love a stroll around a supermarket. But always in back of my head what if I catch it bring home. Not been to doctors either whice missed appointments because of the stress and worry.
Yes I do Ann as I really needed the exercise and I am currently finding it too hot to do gardening or Joe Wicks stuff. At least I feel I I have done something.
I was socially distant from everyone and when I entered the shop with mask on I made sure no part of me touched anything (the door was open) so I just picked up the roll of bags I needed and with outstretched hand dropped the money bomb into his hand.
As soon as I got home I hung the shopping bag up in hall leaving everything in it, will leave it for a day or two, and immediately washed my hands. I feel quite relaxed and stress free. I truly believe most cases have probably been passed by physical contact or amongst families so I do feel quite safe. Try not to miss doctors appointments my dear, as they could be used for someone else. My surgery gave me a phone appointment, is that an option with your doctor?
I know it is hard to stay brave but when I feel low I just think of all the people in the world who have a far harder life than me. I have a loving family, garden, gadgets, food, comfort, books and live in a democracy so I tell myself that in spite of all the bad stuff I have experienced I am strong and will not let anything bring me down. Positive thinking is important and if possible read a book by Rhona Byrnes (I think) called The Secret. Even if you don't believe a word of it I don't think anyone can dispute the positiveness in it. Now smile, give your kids a hug and phone the doctor if you need to.
The vast majority of people have been either moving or saying thank you when we did. However, a rough as hell woman cycling along the pavement with her even rougher mother and three children shouted abuse at us earlier because we asked them to pass with a little more distance. The first child who passed us managed it while saying thank you as we moved over a bit too but the two adults, no. Let's be thankful the children of these scumbags have minds of their own and learn manners elsewhere, maybe at school.
The trouble with the underclass you speak of they haven't the brains to understand what is going on and what pandemic/contagion means .
80% + of the nation are doing all they can to follow the rules which is slowing the infection and bringing the all important R rate down .
When this is all over can imagine the conversation between scumbags :- " Don't know what all the fuss was about I carried on doing as I pleased and I never caught it !"
Never of course thinking to thank the 80% obeying the rules who were the reason for their survival .
Golfforall They've been around since the dawn of time and will be until the end of the human race. One thing my experience today highlights is how the vast majority of Brits are decent, law abiding people so we can try to focus on that but it's hard when those ****s shout at you in the street!
A cycling went past us on the pavement yesterday (the streets are empty...) and he was coughing. Ok, he probably doesn't have covid but why go so close to people when you don't need to and cough in their space?
Generally taking a step out has been okay but I have come across several individuals who do not understand the difference between 1 foot and 2 meters. Even politely asking them to take a couple steps back or forwards is a crime! But generally seeing the green grass and blue skies and some people maintaining distance gives me some hope to begin to fully venture out!
Have you noticed how birds social distance from humans? Perhaps they know something we don't. Or perhaps we smell terrible. Who knows?
Yes I find that my neighbours cats are the same, especially if I am holding a water sprayer!
