Do You Take Your Own Bags When Shopping?

Ask a Question

Do you always take your own bags when you go shopping?

Apparently, we still end up buying a lot of bags at the shops so maybe they should stop selling them?

I was using my own reusable bags before we had to I hated using disposable ones. If I do forget/buy more than planned I pile them up and carry them I never buy more

I do take my own bags or if i forget i try to just do without. I do think stopping selling bags would be a big mistake though as who hasn’t been out and about and needed to do a bit of shopping, but forgot a bag

jms19 I think their thinking is that if they stopped selling them, people would make more of an effort to remember their own therefore less plastic use?

A few years ago waitrose gave every customer who signed up for self scan a selection of bags including an insulated one. These bags are still going strong.

I have been taking my own bags for years. I did purchase the plastic bags for life, the ones you could get replace if they broke. Then they stopped doing that. Not happy as I purchased them on the understanding they were a bag for life.

eyeballkerry Asda, Iceland, Tesco, Sainsbury's all exchange "Bags for Life". Some Savers branches can be a handful in not exchanging their bag for life. I have to constantly show the staff they bags says replaceable for life.

I try to take my own bags but its not always possible as occasionally the shop isn't planned. I often get a call asking if I can pop in on way home from work. If they stop selling bags then I wont be able to bring the shopping home. we dont all drive to the shops.

I always take my own bags in my handbag and keep some in the car as spares. I watched on YouTube how to fold the plastic carrier bags so they would fit in your handbag.

Always and I resent ever having to pay for bags - I’d just carry things if I must!

When I go away to Europe I stock up on shopping bags. The bags in European supermarkets are brilliant and sturdy

I almost always take my own bags when I go shopping. My carer takes me into town sometimes and I begrudge the prices they charge for 'bags for life' or 'eco bags'. Neither of these seem to last very long and have the habit of vacating my home to the same place odd socks and coat hangers disappear to. LOL
