Has the Pandemic Highlighted Bad Practices of Companies?

I came across this headline where a food shop in an area of Birmingham hiked prices for the price of flour during the pandemic where the recommended rrp was £12.49 but the owner of the store put a sticker over it to boost the price to £22 for the flour .He was took to court and found guilty and it made me think of the practices of companies who have used the pandemic as an excuse for numerous actions and what as a consumer have you done . I for one haven't eaten once in a Wetherspoons since the pandemic started and wondered if you have been shocked at some companies practices.

I've read the article, but I'm not sure what the shop owner has done wrong.

Why can't he charge what he wants?

I mean it's all supply and demand, so I'm not sure what law he was breaking.

Underhanded and sneaky taking advantage of people though.

Profiteering laws are there to stop this some still try their luck but if a business done this to me I would never use their service again

Uk Holiday companies spring to mind at the moment, most of there prices are crazy this year.

A lot of companies are using covid and working from home as an excuse for poor customer service.

Amazon. They've raked it in but still don't pay enough money back into the UK economy. They also treat a lot of their workers like crap (direct from the horse's mouth). In the meantime, a large proportion of Latest Deals members appear to be paying their £7.99 a month for the Jeff Bezos fan club but will soon be complaining when local shops close, Amazon increase automation in their warehouses and jobs dissappear while we line the pockets of a huge American company. 👏🏻

I thought most people had returned to work or perhaps still work from home but do take calls/emails and yet we find that many companies are still using the covid excuse for poor (and worse) service and can take an age to respond probably because they got rid of staff when they shouldn't have done and now can't cope but aren't prepared to hire/reinstate staff to take the workload of those slogging their guts out.

Imo very few companys should be using covid as an excuse now for shoddy customer service, they should have learnt to adapt by now.
