Penguins Search for the Perfect Pebble for Their Mate

When a male penguin falls in love with female penguin, he searches the entire beach to find the perfect pebble to present to her. 
Not quite sure how you find the perfect pebble though. Its a way of building a nest I spose..a marriage proposal of sorts. They mate for life as well.

As to why Penguins want pebbles - I hope this doesn't shock the easily offended.
"Penguins use stones for building their nests. Based on a 1998 study, media reports stated that a shortage of stones led female Adélie penguins to trade sex for stones. Some pair-bonded female penguins copulate with males who are not their mates and then take pebbles for their own nests".
