Pet Food from Aldi and Lidl
Ask a Question
Does anyone buy pet food from Aldi and Lidl? I’ve bought cat food and treats, and my cats seem to like it, but not entirely sure if it’s goid for them as it’s quite cheap
I buy my dogs treats from Aldi - i get the mint denta-stick treats... my younger dog LOVES them, shes never been as excited for any treat as she is for these! Not sure how much they do for their teeth or breath but she is a BIG fan.. my older dog likes anything so shes not a good judge of quality
Lol it’s the same with my cats - they really seem to love the stick treats, more so than the biscuits. Just as well they’re not expensive
I buy the dogs Langhams dry food from Aldi. I used to buy wainwrights hypo allergenic dog food which was nearly £3 a kilo but someone in pets at home told me that the Aldi version was pretty much the same and only £1.50 a kilo. My dogs love it, so much so that when i picked up a bag of wainwrights as i hadnt been to aldi they wouldnt eat it
Lol! I do believe that most of the items in supermarkets are pretty much the same, but just packaged differently. As long as our furry loved ones like stuff from Aldi and Lidl, I’ll keep buying from these places
Many years ago when Lidl first opened in Yeovil I bought some cat food from them and the cat food in the tin hadn't been properly minced and there was no brown dye for part of the contents and looked awful. I think it came from Spain or Italy can't remember for sure but made me feel quite ill. The cats wouldn't eat it not even the ok looking bits and so never bothered again. Tend to use Felix pouches nowadays with occasional Whiska's pouches plus biscuits. I sort of connect Aldi and Lidl in my mind as being very similar so if one is bad I tend to think the same of the other. I've tried other shop brand pouches and often they end up getting chucked out anyway. Even Felix I have to buy AGAIL rather than the standard pouches.
Pet food is regulated so will be OK. I buy it for mine regularly when they are having one of their 'I'm not eating that' phases, I think it has more meat content in it too, which is better for cats. Only issue I have had is one box from Aldi that was off, which I can smell 6 months on.
I have not ever bought dog food, but I have bought the dogs treats from aldi and our dogs loved them so would definitely recommend. Can't speak for the dog food though, so would be interesting to hear how you get on.
