Pickled Vegetables
Ask a Question
I started eating pickled cucumbers and made some more and cut up some carrots too
Does anyone else eat them, what foods do they go well with?
kitty88uk I hope you don't think I am being rude but when it says great for pickling it means you can use for making pickled onions not just pouring over them. Making pickled onions involves boiling, pickling spices, chillies, sugar, all sorts of things depending what recipe you use. Just Google 'recipes for pickled onions' and choose one to suit, and don't forget to sterilise the jars.
Leannexxx try out Lidl cornichons they are really good Iโve had them for year.
kitty88uk I eat them just as a side but my family think they go well with meals with meat and potatoes . They crunchy and tasty just by themselves as well .
I like pickle you put in sarnies, pickled onions, pickled gherkins and when young used to make my own pickled onions.
I make pickled cucumbers and also beetroot (cook/chill first) in apple cider vinegar. Both go well with sauerkraut and tomatoes
Jerseydrew I donโt usually make them either but thought to try it out lol itโs okay I guess but wouldnโt eat pickled cucumbers all the time lol
martinlufc5637 donโt eat pickled onions that much to be honest sane with cucumbers lol
I love most pickles, but you cant beat a good really strong spicy picked onion. My Dad used to do his own with lots of chillis in the vinegar. amazing! Love a good jar of piccalilli too! Used to always be Haywards but there are some great smaller companies who do their own hotter versions.
didbygraham I see I think may have tried pickled onions with ginger nice bit of spicy kick but I prefer more spicy flavours
I eat kimchi and pickled daikon (radish) and itโs great, but itโs not to everyoneโs taste
I don't eat any of it myself. Gives me heartburn, too acidy, even though I like vinegar on chippy chips lol. My aunt, (who's now dead) went out on the booze on a Saturday. Every Sunday, she lay in bed, drinking lemon fanta. Jars of pickles, pickled red cabbage, pickled cauliflower etc. Lol.
nadinegregg70 oh I see sorry for your loss
Yes itโs not healthy and I donโt it eat much lol
I like picked cauliflower, cucumber, gherkins, peppers and cabbage I like to pop them on a salad as extras
tara73ziva sounds good and delicious oh Iโve not heard of pickled cauliflower before!
kitty88uk you can buy it in jars mixed with pickled onions and gherkins in the local supermarkets
I donโt eat and pickles as I find them too acidic and some research has shown that pickled foods are not good for you.
