Do You Plan Your Meals Ahead or Cook with What You Buy?

How many of us here plan our meals ahead of the week and buy everything in to make those meals and who goes to the supermarket and sees what they fancy then puts meals together? Or maybe you're somewhere in between?
Were doing slimming world so we try to plan most meals before we go shopping but we usually have a few meals missing 
we pick up something we fancy when we see it then.
That seems like a sensible idea! I think a bit of both is good as it gives you a chance to still be a bit spontaneous!
So i didnt use to do any sort of planning and it was awful, we had to do like 3 food shops a week, could never decide what we were having for dinner, never had what we needed and wasted a lot more.... now on a Friday, we do our food shop, i plan every meal and work out every item I need and create a list.. now we have minimal waste, save money / budget, know what we’re having every night and only have to shop once a week! I’d never go back to not planning now!
I totally know what you mean, we fell into this trap for a longer time where we were almost going in every day to get stuff which just ended up being ridiculous.
Plan meals ahead, otherwise how do you know what you want/need to buy? You may end up with nearly all ingredients for something, but missing something vital.
