Plans during UK Heatwave
Ask a Question
With temperatures potentially reaching 33 this week, how do you plan to spend the days?
Any different to normal? Or enjoying it as we can’t really go on holidays?
I love hot weather and when it exceeds 30 it just makes me happy! I’ve taken two days off work to enjoy the weather and sit in the garden to do nothing -I’m basically taking my summer holiday over days when the temperature is hot!
One thing I hate is I can’t sleep at night because its hot.. but happy to make the sacrifice given its always raining here!
I absolutely love the sun so have been making the most of it out in my garden it’s better than being stuck in the house
I will open all the windows to let the heat in. Our house is usually cold indoors unless the central heating on.
We have lots of outdoor jobs to do so the weather being nice is a bonus. Top up the tan while getting things done. The sun makes everybody happy and that’s what we need at the moment to cheer people up
Agreed - I think the sun does lift up the mood of most people, but hopefully people still remain vigilant!
Ooooo good shout - I completely forgot about the ice cream I had in my fridge!!! Thankss!!!!
I'm OK as long as I have access to shade, if needed, and a never ending supply of long drinks with plenty of ice. The paddling pool will be filled (huge rectangular pool from Asda £15) and 'Club Tropicana' on repeat should help me get lost in the moment. That reminds me - I have to look for those cocktail straws and parasols.
Oooo that sounds like fun! I have a tree in our garden which gives us shade, which I think is really useful! Although I love this heat, I can't really sit outside in the sun all the time!
Soaking up the sun. It isn’t hot enough for me unless it hits 30 degree, as I’d still need a cardigan or light jacket
MsLamboLova12 yes, it’s just a tad cool for me, especially if I am caught in shady areas - sometimes I get goosebumps and start sneezing
hspexy It must be difficult for you for the other 360 days when the sun isn't shining in this country!
MsLamboLova12 lol it is. I usually wear thermals, and I was still wearing the thermal tops on Monday. Yesterday, I didn’t think I needed them anymore. Today, I definitely don’t need them, but my cardi is in my bag just in case
hspexy Really interesting! Do you just like/prefer the hot weather or remaining warm?
MsLamboLova12 I like to stay warm, preferably directly in the sun. The shade can be a touch too chilly for me. Today, it was a bit breezy, but not cold so I didn’t need my cardi in the end. However, I do always have it at hand as I find most shops like to crank up the air con - I absolutely hate air con
hspexy Well hopefully you enjoy today as it is quiet warm today and not sure if temperatures will rise like this again this year ! Lots of sunscreen will be needed!
MsLamboLova12 thanks! Hope you enjoy it too. It’s so lovely out, so definitely going to make the most of it
hspexy Thanks! Going for a walk shortly to enjoy this weather while it lasts!
Mainly relaxing and doing as little as possible. Trying to keep cool with iced coffee or tea
Anything above about 24 degrees is too hot for me so I'll be hiding in the house until the shade hits the garden and it cools a bit
KirstyWhit29673 this weekend looks like itll cool down a bit which will be good!
Still working full time as I have been all year. But I think I will relocate my desk to the garden tomorrow me thinks.
SonsOfPitches Have a special 'I've been working full time as I have been all year' badge from me.
Very rare there is such a thing as a heatwave in Scotland, but if we do get any hot weather, can’t sit in our garden thanks to our delightful next door neighbours who smoke weed and blast out dance music with 10 people in the garden ALL DAY and have 8 dogs who won’t stop barking if there are people anywhere nearby... cant go anywhere because it’s too busy / not allowed... just have to stay indoors!
sarahgreen15 oh noo! It is rare up north for a heatwave hopefully hour neighbours find it too hot and stay inside!
Even though it's certainly hot, I don't really think of 2 or 3 hot days as being a heatwave. Having a few hot days scattered around here and there is just a normal part of summer. 2018 however most definitely was a heatwave as that went on and on.
Sorry for going off a tangent there , but to now answer your question, during this hot weather I will be taking things more easy and just relax. I try not to do too much work when it's hot.
RegularComper90 Thats a fair point. It was going on and on in 2018 (I miss that)! This weather is good for relaxation sometimes does make you a little lazy too! Hope you have a good day!
MsLamboLova12 Yes not bad thanks. I hope you are having a good day also. Make the most of the weather.
Everything I said earlier......I take it back! All I really need at the moment is to be hosed down with very cold water! OMW!
angemski its just getting started.. I believe the temperature peaks at 4pm - you might need a freeze to hand!
Getsome This requires a different chat and hopefully those people who went there can shed some light as to what was going through their heads But hopefully you had a great and safe day!
Or the morons in Liverpool last night ! At least the Liverpool idiots are renowned for not being the sharpest tools in the box ! Didn't they learn anything from that match in March ?
Golfforall yep! Whats the strangest is people will try to defend why they had to go out in liverpool last night.
Getsome Golfforall I’m beginning to question peoples thought processes these days!
dammy I feel you! Today seemed alot warner than yesterday and I was struggling to work!
