Poignant Words from Anon

Other

Todays words from sister deserve their own thread, she didn’t say who wrote them or where they came from. I apologise that it's long but joining up didn't work.

Stay safe inside

I’m feeling alone

I’m feeling confused

I’m stuck in my house

And there’s nothing to do

I can’t go out walking

I can’t see my friends

I can’t do the things

On which I solely depend

I know all the rules

And by those I abide

I’ll stay in my house

But the sadness I can’t hide

I see lots of news

Social media posts

I see you with family

Having fun, making toasts

Don’t get me wrong

It’s a lifeline for me

Takes my mind off the long days

That stretch before me

You all make me laugh

You all make me see

There’s people still out there

Not just little old me

I read daily the figures

Of those who have passed

Of those that survived

And those that wear masks

Of doctors and nurses

Tending the ill

Supermarket workers

Our bellies they fill

Truck drivers

Police, Pharmacies too

All doing their jobs

Like those on the news

Keeping us well

At the cost of their lives

Separated from loved ones

No one at their sides

Some working from home

And driving you mad

But they’re wishing they were in

The office they had

This virus has come

And it’s changed how we live

Some losing jobs

No money to give

It’s hard for us all

But we’re doing our best

At 8pm we clap

In our pyjamas and vests

We hope it soon ends

We hope to be free

From our houses, our shackles

Just let me be me

We’ll be out in our droves

We’ll sit by the sea

We’ll go out for dinner

Or invite you for tea

Saying Hello, to each passer-by,

We’ll relish that moment

No more we will sig

But until then

Let’s all stick together

In these challenging times

Look after yourselves

And just stay safe inside

Absolutely beautiful! We are all a bit lost right now, the majority of us are doing our best to help those mentioned above and we need to give them some serious respect when this is all over as they are keeping the country going! My husband went to our local co-op on Friday as we needed milk for our son, he thanked one of the women working there, saying he really appreciated her being there, as he couldn't do his shopping without her being there. She was really touched and got a bit emotional.

Dennab how rude! All he had to do was smile back, that's not that much effort!

My friend, who lives just down the road from me (we can see each others houses from our windows, our sons wave at each other) goes for a short walk with her son twice a week just so he isn't inside the whole time. She is out for 10 minutes max.

I can't believe the man in the WhatsApp group! It is people like them that are going to make the lockdown last longer and spread it further.

Also I don't think the health secretary needs her advice!

MrsCraig over 4000 people yesterday were warned that could be now a positive 4000 test results i don’t blame if exercise is banned to be honest not exercising ain’t going to kill you but catching it can

Ann1984 I haven't taken my son out at all since the lockdown. He is allowed in the garden and that's it. We don't go out for exercise. You can exercise in the house if you want to exercise, plenty of online videos. I wouldn't be surprised if exercise was banned too.

Ann1984 I'm unsure what the woman in that last screenshot is getting at. As far as I can see, she's just going out for some exercise with her child. That's allowed - with a bit of common sense.

Dennab yeah but she saying if exercise is banned she will do jail instead of staying in so going out to me is more important then her child's health

Ann1984 I think she's just being a bit dramatic and rebellious. That's all. I doubt she'd actually put those words into practice. The problem is Ann, people are a bit dim. You have those who overthink rules, those who think they know better and those who just don't understand the logic, reasoning and science behind it all. That woman is the first of those three in my opinion.

That is very well put and reflects how many folk are feeling. Maybe we could spend some time writing our own poem to put on this thread. Words of encouragement and to uplift?

Hi lilyflower thank you, that is just so beautiful x Sadly our family has lost a much loved friend to the virus. When this is over our family and hers will get together to celebrate her wonderful life. I hope they will ban the exercise part of the lockdown after all the sunbathers. It is unfortunate for those who have a safe early morning run etc. This week there has been more people and cars around even though more people are losing their lives. I was sent this and it's beautiful. Stay safe everyone and hugs to you all. We will get through this x

Ive said for ages that the 'out for exercise' should be banned too,if youve a garden, use that- if you havent use the living room.its not rocket science! Theres loads using the exercise loophole to flout the rules...The poems nice, but not sure about the "out in droves' bits a great idea,it might start it all up again??.....🤔
