Police Notified as Aldi Recalls 'Unsafe to Eat' Bakery Item

In the News

The Food Standards Agency said the product 'may have been tampered with' and the police had been informed

A bakery item sold in Aldi is being recalled due to a health risk. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an alert, urging consumers not to eat the product.

It said the Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White "may have been tampered with" and have a "possible presence of metal". It said it was "an isolated incident".

The FSA said: "Signature Flatbreads UK is taking the precautionary step of recalling Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White because of a possible presence of metal, as the product may have been tampered with. The possible presence of metal makes this product unsafe to eat.

"This is an isolated incident and is not linked to other product recall information notices, (PRINs) recently published for metal contamination. No other Aldi or Signature Flatbreads UK products are affected."
