In 2020 the abbreviation could mean that dates could easily be manipulated by adding extra number to change the date to a previous or future year.
It is common practice when dating documents to simply use the last two numbers of the year — for example, 30/12/19 meaning 30 December 2019.
However, in 2020, this abbreviation could mean that dates could easily be manipulated by adding extra number to change the date to a previous or future year, such as 2019 or 2021.

If it makes you more aware of what they can do to try and manipulate your 'dates' then I'm happy to share. (You are not the only one who has trouble opening the yahoo links) 
Another thing is it's better to ALWAYS write out the date, Today is the 7th Jan 2020. (OK to abbreviate the month). Those who write it as 07/01/2020 could cause confusion as Americans (and other idiots) read it as the 1st July 2020.
I noticed a late friend of mine has his birthday given, online, as 4th February - I know for a fact his birthday was the 2nd April.
Sorry if the above might imply I think that ALL Americans are idiots - Frank Sinatra wasn't... he decided to be born on the 12th of December which prevented any confusion.
I'll bet you are glad that you read this then, I hadn't thought of it either but it is a really valid point.

We are writing it as 2020 at work for these reason. I would never of thought of something like that myself though but bet some people will
I thought it would be a natural and easy slip to make which was why I posted it. So now it's 2020 all the way
I'd never though of this but it's a good point. We've already started writing it as 20 at work but perhaps I should suggest a change to 2020. Thanks for the tip

It is better to be safe than sorry and I would rather that people knew than find out that they were caught out
