Do You Polish Your Shoes?
Ask a Question
I was looking for Christmas gifts for my husband and a shoe polishing kit came up, I can't remember the last time I saw him polish his shoes. My step dad used to polish his shoes every night.
Very strange that less than an hour ago I was thinking of "shoe shining" as a topic. I always polish my own shoes, but have noticed that most men don't seem to do so. Looking after shoes properly makes them last longer and also keeps them looking new.
Every so often I lay some plastic bags on the table and apply polish one by one. I then buff the footwear in the order the polish was applied so it has time to soak in.
I suppose it comes from the time I spent 'bulling' shoes in the WRNS.
Ann1984 Only if you get on the table to join them. . . then fall off. Although even then you've got to be opening an umbrella indoors at the same time (umbrellas make useless parachutes),
Superstition states that placing new shoes on the table can negatively impact future prosperity, while leaving any shoes on the table is likely to lead to a quarrel, or just plain bad luck [source: Murrell]. Traditionally, this legend may be tied to the mining industry; when miners passed away, their relatives would bring their shoes into the home and place them onto the table [source: Tanna].
yes ... to preserve them as much as anything...I sort of made myself our official boots cleaner... they don't get done often but when needing waterproofing etc...we tend to live in walking boots.
Yes we do but not routinely only when they really need it. In fact some of my patent shoes just get a dust.
I used too but nowadays i don't wear the kind of shoes that need polishing, cant even remember the last time i did polish them
No. I don’t really own shoes that require it. If I do need to clean them, I often use an old toothbrush
