Should Pools and Leisure Centres Get More Government Support?

Ask a Question

🏊 Should we be spending more of out Tax Payer's money to support gyms, leisure centres and pools?

A lot of them are struggling to run with the energy costs and some athletes have expressed their concerns to the Prime Minister.

Pools and leisure centres do need more support from central government. Although, given all the money energy firms are currently raking in it would be nice if they offered additional support, in the form of a special low energy rate, to public pools and leisure centres. If these places close and people become even more inactive it will end up costing the government/ NHS more money in the future. Plus, swimming is an important skill to learn. If a lot of pools close there will be a sharp increase in the number of children not learning to swim, which would likely lead to an increase in the number of drownings each year.

I think everyone should learn to swim. It's a life saver and a health promoter.

Yes, they are valuable centres for communities to stay fit and healthy. The government should be helping in anyway they can.
