Portugal Has Extended It's "State of Calamity " till 30 May .
In the News
But tourists are welcome from Monday 17th May !! .
Yes I get it ! A vast chunk of Portugal's economy depends on tourism and there will still be checks in place . But with the "Indian variant " now spreading like wild fire is it wise ?
Good luck and best wishes for those who will be enjoying a well earned holiday but what are the chances of Portugal being added to the Red list (and compulsory government hotel quarantine ) at a couple of days notice ?
I'm currently in Portugal and that whole emergency/calamity is blown out of proportion by the government and media.
To be straight with you, people live their lives, go for walks, runs, and shop wherever. When shopping, it's still mandatory to wear masks, but after I leave, I take it off.
Having said that, life is good and even better not watching the trashy live TV.
For news? I read it here: https://www.theportugalnews.com/
We did briefly considered Portugal for August this year as the prices were really good just over £2000 for 5 of us, that included flights, transfers and hotel for a week. In this country they want £1500 for a three bedroom caravan . Still haven't booked anything so will probably end up staying at home again this year.
